If you sold a product that is a series of say "how to" do affiliate marketing and would take the new subscriber time to go through all the training and modules, would you and should you still market through email, even when they may be preoccupied going through the program/product you just sold them.

Should you have a waiting period... or what is the best way in a case like this?

Would they still buy from your other promotions in your emails?

I would continue to market to them.

After someone buys is the best time to try and sell them something else.

Ideally you should try and upsell them immediately after the purchase.

Ryan Deiss and others suggest from their testing that you should wait a week or two before promoting other things to your new buyers, especially when it is a course you sold them.

I certainly wouldn't promote other courses to them, but useful tools that relate to your course, sure, why not? Just be smart about how you do it. Don't take the advice of these guys on the WF who advocate emailing every day. They are amateurs who recommend doing that.

Take Thomas Witek as a case in point - he had a great product that sold a lot of copies (ClickJacker/3500+ sold) and he emailed offers every day to his buyers, some of whom were also his affiliates.

This year Thomas dropped out of Internet Marketing. Why? He doesn't say, but he came out with a product called "Affiliate Commander" and I guess because he burned out his list so bad and his affiliates as well, it only sold 25+ copies. Nobody wanted it. Nobody wanted to promote it either.

Finally, the staff at JVZoo bailed him out a little and promoted the offer and raised the sales count for him above 100.

I think it discouraged him, but he only has himself to blame. He had a re-launch date for another product of his called "Link Cloaker 2.0", but I guess the dismal failure of Affiliate Commander made him take all of this products off of JVZoo, cancel the launch of Link Cloaker 2.0, and get out of IM completely.

Now, you'll hear from all kinds of people about how you should email every day because most customers become unresponsive after about 30 days. That's just pure bullshit. They become unresponsive because the person mailing them is an asshole. So don't be an asshole and you'll do fine and have a good, responsive list, long term.

If you have a product, course, or tool that can really compliment what they just bought then absolutely do not wait to Market it to them.

This can only benefit them even more

    I would market to them.

Most likely will be any upsells for my product.

    OR...

Any services I use and mention inside of the product.

    Just what I would do.

After your customer bought some product, send them few emails about that product. Tell them how to use it properly, how to take full advantage from that product etc. This will give them a signal that you are not just selling them, you are caring them too.

After another week you can start promoting them another product.
