Build List + Promote Affiliate Product

Hi All!

I'm still very new to Internet Marketing and would love some guidance on how to build a list while also promoting a product I'm an affiliate for.

Here's my thought process...

1. Create an opt-in/squeeze page using some of the copy from the product that I'm promoting
2. Send traffic to this page (using Solo Ads + Free sources)
3. Once the person opts in, they will be redirected to the product that I'm promoting via a Thank You Page

My concern is that this method may lower my opt in rate for the affiliate product because they will feel like it's a double opt in. Essentially they are entering their email address twice.

Is my concern unfounded? Is there another way to go about this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

To some extent. You'll want to ensure that the copy is congruent to your offer if that's what you mean.

Yes. In the early stages it shouldn't be so much of a case of just sending traffic, but it's knowing what to do with it. This is your best time to split test and find out what's working and what isn't working.

Is the affiliate offer a squeeze page then? You could work on putting together a video that pre-frames them for a pre-sale. So... the video could go into detail of how the system works and over the next few days uplift that by pushing it in different angles. You'll want value based emails but ensure that it's congruent to what they originally signed up for.

There's a lot that can be done with this, but that's just 1 idea to think of.

Thanks Steve, checking out your program.

Yes from my opt in page they would sent to another opt in to download a free ebook. From there they will sold via an upcoming webinar by the seller as well as follow up emails throughout the launch.

That is too much. Sell them a product second, and give them the ebook on the first opt in

Personally, I don't think they would doubt that this is double opt in, people in this niche have been seeing the same funnel for years now! They are well-trained! lol

The product I'm promoting is in the IM niche. So you're saying I shouldn't worry about the double opt-in since the people I want to reach already "get it"?

I will suggest u get a copy of d lead product u want promote as an affiliate.
Go through and do something with d information u have garnered.
Take notes of what u did and d outcome. The more favourable the outcome the better.
Take one method or technique from what worked for u from the product and offer it for free as ur lead magnet.

Write a series of emails schooling ur wannabe subscribers about the technique u gave as a freebie and pre selling the others contained in d product u want to offer.
Taking ur subscribers directly to d affiliate page is very wrong and may increase unsubcription rates.

God is good all the time!

    1. You can do that. Travis Sago is a big believer in this and it can make the transition from freebie to one time offer more natural.

    2. Those are good ways. Also check out forum marketing, blogging, Facebook ads, etc.

    3. Yes do that! Make it a low priced offer.

If you want to get more email subscribers quickly, you should follow a few list building strategies.

Having a list gives you more influence over your subscribers’ behavior and allows you to drive page views, sales, reviews, or anything else you’d like.

More and more people and companies recognize the power of email and are gathering email addresses of their customers more aggressively.

Following questions are very important to gather email addresses in right way.

    How to:

    determine what your audience values
ask for email addresses in the right way
use tools to quickly gather email addresses from visitors
determine the optimal places to ask for email addresses

Create something that your visitors crave, and they’ll practically be forced to give you their emails. Create something that only some of your visitors want, or only want a little bit, and you’ll be left almost empty-handed.

If you have a blog that gets consistent traffic, this will be extremely easy.

If you want to see what your audience is most interested in, simply look at the number of times they’ve viewed each article. Additionally, you can look at the number of comments and social shares generated by the articles.

If you have a new site or one with few posts and low traffic levels, you can’t use above method. What you can do, however, is look at your competitors. See what your competitors are offering.

The biggest mistake marketers make when creating lead magnets is that they make offers that are too vague.

You must create a useful offer that solves one specific problem in your reader’s life.

Your lead magnet can be in any format. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that it:
is about something your reader cares about,
delivers massive value (high quality), and
accomplishes (at least) one specific thing in your subscriber’s life.

To make things crystal clear, let’s look at some examples.

    E-books
    Free Courses
    Lists

    Designing a high-converting opt-in form

In general, you have to consider three essentials factors: your offer, your headline, and your call to action (CTA).

    Factor #1: A valuable offer

You need something that your readers will care about enough to give their email addresses for.

    Factor #2: A clear headline

This is simple but important. Clearly state the title of your lead magnet, possibly preceded by “Download”, “Get a copy of”, or a similar phrase.

Factor #3: A first person CTA

First, you need a CTA. Once your visitor inputs their email address into the text form, tell them what to do to get their freebie.

To boost your conversion rate, write your CTA in the first person.

Try to write your button CTA in terms of the benefit your offer will provide. For example:

    “Yes, I want more traffic”
“Show me how to get more subscribers”
    “Give me your secrets”

Use the most effective email collecting tools

If you want to use a static opt-in form, you’ll need to have a developer design it, or you can modify templates provided by your email marketing provider (Aweber, MailChimp, etc.).

But the most effective email collecting tools by far, as we’ve seen, are pop-ups. To implement them on your site, you will need to use a specific tool designed for this purpose.

6 Highly Effective Email Subscription Plugins for WordPress

    Option 1: OptinMonster

Created by Syed Balkhi and Thomas Griffin, OptinMonster is an affordable mid-range pop-up tool option.

    Option 2: LeadPages

It’s one of the most comprehensive email collection tools out there.

Cost: Minimum $25/month for basic features.

    Option 1: Hello Bar

Hello Bar offers a lot of features to capture more emails.

Choose the best places to ask for email addresses

There’s one last piece of the puzzle missing: where to ask for your readers’ email addresses.

The traditional way is the sidebar. You don’t need a sign-up form in the sidebar. Most forms placed there will get a subscription rate of about 0.4%. Even a well done sidebar form only converts at about 1%.

    1. The Home page
    2. In blog posts
    3. The About page

I would promote them 1 at a time. Email them about the other offer.
