Is it okay to use British currency to an international list?

I'm British so would rather use pounds instead of dollars, has anyone split tested this before, or has any thoughts?

I'm not so hung up that I wouldn't switch to dollars, I'd just rather not.

Plus I've seen a few British email marketers using pounds before, I don't know how successfully.

Just consider exchange rate, while deciding your prices. You can't ask 20 pounds or 20 dollars for same product. Otherwise, it is OK to have any currency. But most people feel comfortable with dollars as it is easy to carry out conversions with local currencies. Just a standard norm.

Yes most traffic from solo ads tend to be American, so I wonder if they'd be more worried buying products in British pounds, than international customers are purchasing in dollars.

It depends strictly on the market that you are aiming to.

Most European banks use Euro as their primary currency.
Most American banks use USD for this purpose.

When you want to pay in GBP you have to pay spread.
And GBP course is still going up during last 6 months so Americans will have to pay even more.

I also noticed on my shops that people are more willing to pay in their local currencies.

Demographic is important, as well as niche. I'm sure you can figure it out on your own.
