Hi,
It depends upon who is your primary target audience. The most important thing you must care of is to focus on getting your emails opened which will only be possible when you write a punching subject line that will drive audience's attention.

And strictly do not use the words like
Offer
Free
Discount
50% Off

These words can certainly hurt your account. Cheers

Make some reviews of recent top listed marketers and observe minutely and also focus on your dedicated audience because without their respective interest it would be ineffective and also use simple and sophisticated way to deliver your message.

firs mail: give free materials , maybe eBook (so you could place links to your products)
Send mail 5 days, after that 1-2 per week!

I personally think that you've left this question too broad to even answer. What sort of business are you doing and what's the niche? The reason I ask is because you wouldn't want to write emails suited for solo ads for an eCommerce customer. Get my point?

The very first thing is the Subject line as it is read first... make it as attractive as possible to capture the attention.
Second is the body of the email, if your subject line attract them they will go to read the email. the body should not be too lengthy as no one love to read too lengthy email. Be very specific with your purpose.
