Pitching more than one product?

I have never built an email list before and am in the process of drafting a few emails to use before setting up an autoresponder, etc.

I was wondering.... is it bad practice to pitch more than one product in an email? Even if all the products are related to the 'educational' content that you are writing in the email?

Or is it better to just create another separate email entirely pitching another product?

The problem I feel with creating a seperate email in my case is that I don't know if I would be able to create more 'educational' content about the topic, but at the same time I am thinking that if I pitch more than one product in one email, that it might seem too pushy or like I am trying too hard to make a sale....

The email in question will be like the 8th or 9th email that I would be doing this to so hopefully by then, I would have built up enough trust with my list, but I am just wondering if it is bad practice to pitch more than one product in one email and what the advantages and / or disadvantages of doing so is?

    It's not bad, you can pitch multiple products.

    However:

    1] Ideally the offers must be strongly related.
    2] If it's your own product, offer products to them as 1 package.
    3] If your list is responsive, you will see much better results.
    As you say that it will be 8th or 9th email so it is highly likely that people who
    have been that long on your list will not mind it (they are least likely to get annoyed).

    Advantage: You will achieve what you are looking for! In some cases, it would be better to pitch products together in one email, since with time your products may or may not appeal to them as they do now.

    Disadvantage: Apparently no disadvantage if you do it right (See above, what I've said).

      I usually stick to one goal per email. It's nearly always best to give a reader fewer options - people hate to make decisions.

      If you really have to pitch more than one product, you can try subtly mentioning one of them without a traditional CTA.

      For example, if you were sending an email about email marketing, you could mention the first product without pushing it, like this:

      If you want to get readers engaged in your emails, you need to learn to write great stories.

      How?

      Well...as [random guru] says in his course about email marketing [<-LINK THIS PHRASE] - nothing is more compelling than conflict.


      It might not seem like it, but those links will get clicks. Then you can continue with the email and pitch the second product in a more traditional way.

    Honestly, you need to re-evlaute your Niche and why you are in it and whether you have enough to offer to warrant being in it.

    If you are struggling to find more content after this relatively short time you might need to rethink your situation or strategy

      So are you suggesting that it is a bad or good idea to pitch more than one product in a single email?

      I am very new to all this still. The project I am currently working on now is only the 3rd website I have ever built in my life so with this project, I decided to go into a niche that I am very passionate about and have lots of experience in, however, the topic within my niche that I am writing an email about, I could probably come up with more content for it, but I don't want it to seem like I am just writing content for the sake of writing content, you know what I mean?

      The niche in general, I can talk, write, and come up with content forever on, but this topic that I am writing an email about within my niche, I am not so sure that I can......but there is more than one product I can pitch about this topic. I hope that makes sense?

      My emails are quite long. so far, at minimum, they are about 550 words and max about 1100. My site that I just launched has got about 20,000 words total so far and I can definitely keep coming up with more content for it in the future so I am not so sure that the niche that I am in is the issue? More about the topic within my niche that I am drafting an email about.

      Robert, do you have any other suggestions? I see your posts on the forum a lot and find them helpful for a newbie like myself so I would love to hear more of your thoughts?

    Any time you send an email that pitches a product and sale you always want to keep your message crystal clear.

    From a copywriting stand point pitching 2 or more products in one email is a bad idea. Your message loses clarity and you confuse your potential buyer.

    This will affect your sales and a bottom line.

    Additionally, to sale a product you likely to create a promotional campaign. Which will consist from number of emails.

    All in all, yes possible, but makes it a bad idea.

      Thanks. This was along the lines of what I am trying to understand in regards to email marketing.

      What if there are 2 or more products that will help make my message more clear? Would you say that it would be okay to pitch 2 or more products if that were the case? If all the products were going to help my list fulfill the message that I am trying to get accross in the email?

      Do my questions make sense?

        If there 2 products that you want to advertise. Then segment your list based on their interest, and pitch each product to it's segment.

        Or,.

        Run email sales campaigns one after another.

        Consider this. When you pitch sale for a product, you're not just saying "buy it". You write full fledged sales copy. This copy talks about pains, agitates them, introduces product, explains it benefits. Displays the product can change your prospects life. Only then it pitches sale.

        Imagine doing it for 2 products in one email.

        Every time you write copy and you confuse your customers, you lose sales and customers. Promoting 2 products within same email creates exactly that, confusion.
