Are you resending autoresponder emails to recipients who did not open it?

If a rather valuable email in your autoresponder series is left unopened, do you send it again ( in another variation perhaps) to those who did not open it?

Or you treat it as a regular newsletter?

  • In my opinion it is a good idea to resend mails to individuals who have not opened mails, however I would change the title to see if this attracted them to open and read the contents.

In addition, with a bit of variation, I have found that sending the same mail to even those who opened it first time can work. They may have only skimmed it last time, or almost clicked on a link, or almost invested in your recommendation and the second mail just gives them that extra little shove that brings in the extra results for you.

Obviously you don't want to do this too often as people will start unsubscribing or hitting the complaint/spam link.

    I hope that helps

I re-send on a regular basis. However I change the headline in will tell them in the email copy that it's a resend.

  • Sometimes I'll resend an email, but most often, because I email daily anyway, I don't bother.

I suppose it depends on your overall approach.

Sometimes, people get busy or got spammed by spammers and your emails get pushed down and never be seen.

So, you will have to retype the subject and some of the content so it does not get picked up by spam filters and get your subscribers the best content so they will open your emails first.

I will send 12-24 hours apart to unopens if they are time-sensitive offers and there might be more opens than previous. The timezone also plays a part

I do have an automation to resend the initial first email if they did not open it for 4 days.

But from my experience people who did not open the first time usually don't bother to open it second time either.

It sounded like a good idea at the time and something that would raise open rate. But, in reality at least for me changed nothing.

I do resend to non openers. With people's inboxes being bombarded with emails I typically get some extra opens and link clicks. I do change the subject line though.

I usually don't. I email enough on a regular basis to not fool with it. It becomes irrelevant information because many of my broadcasts utilize on the moment, live "tones"
