There are dozens of great traffic models, vjpvjp123. The trick overall is to achieve this:

1. Target the correct audience.
2. Ensure your website offers them exactly what they want, but delivered by way of a new angle, thereby giving them a reason to choose you above the competition.

I actually prefer free traffic generation to paid. I do both, but being old school, I'm more passionate about free routes. Although, to be precise, there really are no free routes when we consider the value of time. Anyway - digression.

To get your feet wet, look into these:

1. Socials (FB, Twitter, G+, Pinterest, Etc).
2. Video Sharing Sites (Youtube, Dailymotion, etc.)
3. Forums.
4. PDF Sharing Sites.

In essence, ask yourself this: "Why does my target audience hang out?" What you then do is simply research the best way to approach them in whichever location you find them.

Free traffic is great, but it's not always targeted as anyone can find your posts/articles/links etc. You should also keep in mind that free methods can sometimes take months or more to show any return for your time investment. Personally, I've been advising my students to work on free methods but not rely on them. Paid methods, for me, provide a much better return on my investment.

True.

But the key to forum marketing is CREDIBILITY and THOUGHT LEADERSHIP.

These don't happen overnight.

Expect to put in several weeks or even months to gain traction.

It also depends on your niche.

Certain sub-niches don't have forums or even sub-forums dedicated to them.

I would go with forum marketing, blogging, and youtube. If you can, get a job so that you can do paid advertising. Because free marketing takes time to work, and if you try to rely on a bunch of social media traffic - be careful - because your conversion rates might be down the toilet.

But figure out a plan and give it a shot. I personally would start with forum marketing in your niche. Start with a Google search. And don't try to sell any "make money online" products since you clearly don't know how to make money online yet.

Create content. Create SEO rich blog posts, do guest blog posts for traffic, create a youtube channel centering around your keyword and niche and shoot videos daily. Have a strong social media presence and be active in forums. Those are some of the high quality free traffic sources I would do.

You can actually rank squeeze pages if done correctly, I've found success by having a decent size article (800+ words) below the actual squeeze section, people who say 1 page sites don't rank anymore haven't actually tried because they still do as long as you don't blast with crappy links...

If you have a budget, simple. Buy advertising.

If you don't have a budget, get one.

;]

If you're working on a budget, and still have free time, use it to bolster up a following throughout social media, and forums.

But at the end of the day, your time is probably better spent getting a budget than fudging around with free traffic acquisition.

(Free traffic is great, but shouldn't be "banked upon" when first starting out).

Just my humble $.02.

I'm sure some cranky-curmudgeon-guru will disagree and rip my post to threads.

There are no free lunches or free traffic.

You will either have to pay with your time or money.

The closest you'll come to getting free traffic is to learn seo
and optimize your site for the keywords people search on.

Ranking near the top of page one on google will get you traffic.
But you are dependent on google then and they can also take
that traffic away from you.

It's best to use a mix of free and paid traffic sources.

If everything else fails, you can try forum marketing.

Get a VA to get a FILTERED (by traffic and niche) forum list for you

Get your VA to create an account on each forum using your BRANDING ELEMENTS

Post high quality content and HELP PEOPLE

Sure, it takes a longer time but you'll get more qualified traffic.

Free traffic takes a long time to build. You have to be everywhere in social media and go to forums etc... it takes lots of time to do... and takes a long time to get results. If you have all the time in the world then you can do that. But you have to remember if you just focus on getting free traffic it is highly likely you will be attracting people with a freebie mentality and they won't spend money with you.

If you allocate a budget and actually be specific on who your target market if and spend money on obtaining the right traffic your results will be better.

If you have budget and a good funnel setup, i will recommend you to go for paid traffic like solo ads, bing PPC and make sure you have at least 7 day followup series and good products to promote.

If you want free traffic, you can try facebook page, make videos and rank on youtube with long tail keywords, craiglist/classified sites, forum marketing with a good signature, post in facebook groups, write a blog on your topic, try some social networking sites like: Pinterest, twitter and many others that help me bring visitors back to my squeeze.

Setup a good funnel and drive traffic to convert them into raving fans

If doing some seo, remember to setup on-page seo.
Internal Linking, External Linking, Links from Quality and related sites.

Well I don't agree with most of you guys. I would say hook up with a JV partner if you have something to offer (like a skill, e.g. In my case that's graphic designs) and in return ask him to promote your landing page. Then when you have a few hundred people on your list do ad swaps with other marketers.

If you don't want to spend anything try social media marketing, post in niche related groups.
Say I was selling something in Gardening I'd scour facebook groups for gardening, horticuralists, landscaping groups, maybe even florist groups etc..
Try and advertise posts to your landing page. This won't drive crazy amounts but if you put the time in you could get a fair bit in!
Youtube is a big hit, try raising a few videos, link to your landing page to let customers know ( will also give your landing page more credit for SEO,)

Would suggest using Bing Ads, just get a Coupon to run your campaign for free. You can use the coupon only once. Try looking for coupons on Fiverr, it's not free ($5), but it's very cheap for such good and targeted traffic.
