Feeling pretty pumped, now if I just do that about 40 more times I'd be in the black.

A question to other mailers out there, in order to make a good living, how big does your list need to be? I understand providing good content and value to your readers, but is there a minimum about of subscribers you need to support a standard living income.

Thanks

I think it depends on how many targeted clicks you can generate per day and the avg conversion rate of that offer

You have to understand this, first...

...this isn't a "numbers game". You're dealing with REAL
    people
with REAL problems and REAL desires they want fulfilled.

Looking at this as a "how many subscribers to make X amount of money"
is like asking "how many drinks do I have to buy a girl for me to take her home?"

It's all based on the RELATIONSHIP you build with your members (NOT subscribers)
and how you advance this relationship to take it to the "next level"

There are people who are making six-figures with a small list of just a few
    hundred and sometimes even less.

But it all comes down to this -- effective positioning, target market, and
    alignment.

      Expertly said Tony M!!

just to add my 2 cents: Always focus on helping people ALWAYS!

Making money is easy in this world, its just that people get it confused...Offer a product or service that entertains or solves a problem and sell it for more than it costs you to make it....BINGO!!!...

The next questions then is... How many people are there in the world who would consider buying my product or service??

Then the answer to your question

Never start with "how many subscribers to make X amount of money" The answer to this will become apparent if you focus on the right things....

      FORM follows FUNCTION!!

      Regards

The money is "in the relationship with your list." Focus on giving quality & value is the key.

As regards to your income make sure you promote some membership site products for a solid, regular recurring monthly income. There are some great funnel system programmes with these products as part of the sales funnel process.

      Cheers
      Barry

      Hello Askmarcus

This is not neccessarily the case. Its not as simple as (no. of subscribers/sales) because you are not including the time factor.

As marketers we need to communicate with our subscribers over time and build a relationship - trust - become an authority.... blah blah blah.

This takes an amount of time! If you started building a list of 10,000 in 1 month and you have 10 sales, it doesnt mean simply dividing the 10,000sub/10sales gives you an accurate figure at all. And is a misrepresentation of the success you can achieve. That same 10,000 list you built in month 1 can give you maybe 200 sales throughout the next 3-4 months as you continue to communicate with them..... If you calculated your results based on the 10 sales you got in month 1...You would most likely give up and quit before all the fruits of your labour take form

It is much more complicated than (no. of subscribers/sales) in my opinion....you need to factor time!!

I find this problem a lot when it comes to IM. Many "Guru's" give you very approximate (email = sales) figures, but non actually talk about time frames and timescales for scaling up. And they never talk about average duration of sales within a funnel..... and its a very important point to communicate with new IM to help manage their expectations, feelings and emotions as they move along the IM roll-a-coaster

      Regards

Congratulations man! Keep doing what you did to get you that first sale.

And in regards to list size...the bigger the list the more money you'll usually make DEPENDING if you know how to correctly market to them.
