Segmenting list - buyers and non buyers

Hi,

Can someone point me in the right direction? I don't really know how to explain it so ill use an example:

A) Person opts in on squeeze page, gets sent to offer and purchases offer, then emails get sent out to them for related offers.

B) Person opts in on squeeze page, gets sent to offer, doesn't purchase, 3 more emails get sent with more info/rapport building about the offer, then they purchase, then more emails get sent for related offers.

How does my autoresponder know they have purchased? I don't want to send them reminders of the product they have just purchased (like I would for non buyers), but would like to start sending related offers. How do I do this?

Thanks.

The autoresponders give you a little piece of code that you add to the pages that you watn to track...

    put that on your website...

Now one way to do this is to track your fulfillment page...(the page they go to when they buy)

anyone who hits that fulfillment page gets either tagged or added to the list of buyers....

Do affiliate products (CB, jvzoo, etc) have a fulfilment page that is available to us to track for things like this? I'll have to look into that.

I clearly have a lot to learn about list management and autoresponder setup. How many lists/segments does one typically have for an individual niche?

Thanks. What about affiliate offers though?

If your using clickbank, you can contact the vendor and he can put your code on the thankyou page.

I think you only need 2 lists per campaign, to segment buyers and non buyers, but it can get a lot more complicated than that. When someone buys, the autoresponder should move them from the freebie list to the buyers list. Hope this is about right??

What if it's a more commercial affiliate vendor? Asking a big company to put my code in their thank you page isn't really gonna work right?
