Can I restrict page access to subscribers only?

Is there a way I can make sure the only people who can access a certain page on my website are subscribers to my mailing list?

I've got a page on my site where users can download free reports/workshop recordings, etc.

I'd like to put something on this page so users have to enter their email address. If they're already on my mailing list they'll be able to download the content, if not they'll be redirected to a sign up page.

There's a few sites that do this (e.g. Noel Britten Extras | The Comedian's Comedian), how do I set something like this up?

I'm using Mailchimp for my mailing list and my website is wordpress based so it'd be great if there was a plugin/widget that I can simply add to the site.

Any suggestions?

Since you said you are using Wordpress, go to the visibility area on the publish tool and there will be three button options for public, private, and pass protected.

Just click pass protected and only give your subscribers the password.

You can use the plug-in, Sideways8 Private Pages or Private Site plugins.

      Thanks guys.

I know it's possible to password protect certain pages but the problem with doing that is people subscribe, get the password and then unsubscribe. Then they can still access the page cos they have the password, but they're no longer on the mailing list. They can also share the password with friends, etc.

Is there anyway I can make their email address the password?

Or failing that make their email address their username?

Basically, how can I make it so my site checks their email address is on my mailing list before giving access to a certain page?

Of course you can do that.

i'm sure a programmer can do this for you if I understand you correctly...It appears you want to verify that someone is subscribed before they can download certain documents...

however, if someone wants to just subscribe..download the material...and then unsubscribe...I wouldn't worry about trying to keep them on your list by forcing them to stay to keep getting stuff....if they want to do that..just let them do it and leave...you don't want them on your list....
