Eye Catching Email Headlines

I've come across a great little resource for finding email marketing headlines:
the radio!

I heard a woman describe something as "dryer than a camel's mouth" on the radio. Now there's a headline that would get attention!

You'd just have to then use a story or spin it to relate to the product you're promoting.

Yeah that's always a good way to give you some idea with brainstorming for new headlines.

Although I will have to say through my own experience (as far as email marketing) the person the email is coming from is a more important determining fatcor of whether your emails will get opened or not than the actual headline !!

Of course it does not mean headlines are not important. They are. Its just not the end all be all

  • IMO you should always be using metaphors, analogies, similes and the like in your emails. Spice your writing up as much as you can. Anything to bring your emails to life is a good thing to always have at top of mind.

Emails these days should be entertaining. You know, as much fun as the entire French air force crashing into a fireworks factory.

People won't be bored in print, or on screen.

I'd rather have unprotected sex with an Ethiopian transvestite than read some of the boring trite inside my inbox right now.

    You get my point, yes?

Another great headline would be to ask a question that addresses your niches pain point. Than follow up with a solution. Be sure to make sure your question gets a yes answer.

I find that a lot of these pop culture type magazines tend to have killer attention grabbing headlines that you can use for inspiration and modeling or these "click-bait" websites; they also have headlines that make you feel compelled to click through.
