Initial Followup Seq....

When writing your initial follow up sequence to your freebie list, are you explaining how to do affiliate marketing in the emails (if that's your niche) or do you just email your list the benefits of the product and features?

do both then...send buddy emails to them...
which you can find out how many of them actually read your email, % of click rate, open rate, and bounce rate
after that once in a while, promote your affiliate products to them also...

It's always good to build trust first. I agree with the buddy emails at first. This will ensure that your contacts won't feel any intrusion. Feed them valuable things that you think is helpful to them. This may take a longer time but it is what you may call lead nurturing. It is also a way of filtering you list. Bit by bit you see whose a higher chance of landing into a sale or a lead. Once you are confident with you filtered list, you can start to throw in your affiliate product. Doesn't matter which comes first (the product or the affiliate explanation), at this stage they are already engaged to what it is you wanted to say.

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks.

Think about why people opted into your list and try to target your emails to be aimed at fulfilling that reason. Developing the ratio/balance between the trust and content emails and the promotional emails is a art you need to develop. It depends you your list management philosophy.

You do not want to over explain in your emails and make them too long as people attention span can be short and you will lose readers.
