How do I get signups?

Hi,

I have a website centered around a health product (for consumption), and want to build a mail list. I have a popup form on the site, as well as a sign-up form in the sidebar.
However, despite hundreds of unique visitors (real visitors, primarily from Facebook), I've only had a single sign-up.

I've attached a screenshot.

Anything that you can spot?

Thanks.

Best regards.
Thomas

Thomas, I can't view the attachment. It says that I need to log in, but I'm already logged in and also a War Room member, so clearly I have all the privileges required to view attachments.

Anyway, I recommend removing the pop-up. It won't help increase sing-ups, but you might end up with a better-quality list. Visitors usually don't like pop-ups: they're annoying as hell. It's marketers who like them, thinking that more is better. Well, some people will go away when they see them, and others might use a bogus email address to get rid of it.

I will return with a more detailed reply once I can view the attachment.

Focus on your end user's pain points.

What keeps them up at night, what are they passionate about, and what do they really want?

Use your opt-in form as the perfect leadbait that solves these problems, and you'll be able to craft a lead capture page better than anyone could ever advise.

    PS:

Your attachment isn't working, though from what I can see, it looks like your lead capture page is long as heck.

My motto is to make your lead capture page tiny, so your end users can read and understand it in less than 5 seconds.

That's my litmus test, and in my experience it works like gangbusters.

In any event, I wish you the best, and surely you can beat your .02% Opt-In rate if you study the core desires of your end user demographic.

    Stay cool.

Implement a lead magnet specific to each piece of content you have, similar to a free bonus that goes hand in hand with the content.

I was able to see the thumbnail but too many items have been blocked out.

Please give the url to your site... we can give you better advice that way.

Alex has the best advice, need a magnetic to pull them in, some advice or even one piece of advice you want to learn more, and they can't get it unless they signup to your list.

    Thomas,

You see here a good suggestion to remove the pop-up. I also find it annoying when I expect to spend only 5 seconds on someone's site to determine IF what they are talking about perks my interest. Also a good suggestion to have an exit pop-up.

Above all that . . . first your focus should be on your content. Make it something someone will WANT TO READ. Good idea to give away a free paper, e-book, or something that your reader will find that helps them alleviate their life of the PAIN you remind them of in your post.

Your post should help them with information, but NOT GIVE THEM EVERYTHING. If you have 10 major points you want to discuss, give them 5-6 in your post and promise the best answers to their problems in the paper, e-book, freebie (also known as a lead magnet) that they will get when they provide their email address.

Some systems suggest you ask for name and email . . . it's good and has it's place. A lot of people simply gather an email address. If your content is good, they will start looking for information from YOU because they find they can trust what you say. They really could care less if you address them by name or not. QUALITY CONTENT.

Finally, don't be discouraged with the lack of opt-ins. You want there to be much fewer people actually opting in. The reason is that you have just weeded out those folks who are "kicking tires" and have no intention of buying what you will offer at a later time. Is it better to have a list of 50 people who like what you talk about and will part with their hard earned dollars or 5,000 "tire kickers" who are only looking for the freebies?

    Hope this helps.

    Thomas,

If you have a very specific niche, see if you can add an opt-in that shows some specific graphics about your niche. (i.e. don't use the standard arrows, etc)

Tell people who are considering what they are going to get in exchange for their email address, just what they can expect when they opt in. (and make that offer enticing . . . a really good reason to give you that private information of theirs.)

If you want more leads and sign ups - simply increase the Quality of your Traffic, the Amount of This Traffic, and the Conversion Numbers.

    That's it!!

    Really, that is it!

Right now, the quality of your traffic might not be of high quality, and also, it might just not be the right traffic for your offers.

One of the most common mistakes - most newbies make online - is that they think by just sending any type of traffic to a page, will work and convert. Do not be one of these newbies!

You need to learn and understand everything about Traffic Online. You can't just send any type of traffic, to any type of page, and expect a lot from it!

There are different types of traffic, and different types of capture/squeeze pages - and each type of traffic works for a certain type of capture page.

This is why it is so important that you invest in your internet marketing education. This is a real business, and also a real profession, so treat it as such!

Learn more about your Niche, the types of traffic, and the conversions game.

Remember, just because you are driving traffic to a website, it does not mean you are going to convert them into leads or sales.

There are many factors that you must consider, and learn about.

Pop-ups are not a great idea if you are looking to build a good audience for your site. They work well once you have a good audience for your site. You know what I mean?

Right now, you want to build a good audience, and to do it fast, you need to really work on getting every single visitor to really like your site. If you are always trying to sell them something and you got too many banners and pop ups, they are going to get annoyed and never comeback.

Bottom line - INVEST in your Internet Marketing Education. Otherwise, you are like a blind man in a fight, punching in the air, and trying to win! LOL

I dont think most people can see the Screen Shot you shared here, by the way

I think maybe it's just the incentive you give out is not enough for them to sign up.

Some guys would provide a nice freebie, such as ebooks, video tutorials, reports, free tools that the audiences really love and very useful to them in their niche to encourage their audience in exchange of their information as well.

And really can't see the screenshot you shared here, so would just provide thoughts in a more generic way.
