GetResponse is baller, and used wildly in IM.

If you check the emails you receive from IMers, most of them are powered by GR

No sure. Aweber is right up there with them as far as popularity

I was with GR when I first started years ago but was not reliable at that time so I switched to AW

I've been using Aweber since 2011 nearly daily with nary a hiccup.

(Heck, I just sent a broadcast a moment ago to my ravenous pack of followers).

    The truth?

There's a massive collection of email marketing tools that work fabulously.

Regarding crawling the internet and scraping emails. No. Do not do this. Build a high-quality email list by providing consistent value to an audience and offering them an incentive to join.

Regarding email service providers, Aweber and InfusionSoft are my favorites; however, ConvertKit is making waves in the industry at the moment.

I agree. You are just asking for trouble if you do this.

I highly recommend that you test with a bunch of seed addresses to get an idea of what your deliverability is. I find that gmail and yahoo usually make up about 80%, with gmail being in the 55%-60% range and yahoo being around 20%-25%. Then hotmail is about 5% and aol is about 5% and then everything else is in the remaining 10%. If you know your list makeup and test and are having any problems, then you will know what percentage is failing and needs to be fixed.

Infusionsoft is the best. But for starters, or marketers who do not require tons of automation, AWeber.com cuts it.

Infusionsoft is great for a lot of things but not so good for open rates! Since moving to Infusionsoft my open rates have dropped significantly. When questioned about this all they can say is it must be the quality of MY emails...NOT!!!

Using other companies my open rates were 3-4 times what I am getting with Infusionsoft!

    Hi Bi3988,

If you're referring to email scraping scripts that trawl the net gathering email addresses for you...

    Don't do it.

It's illegal to send unsolicited email.

It's a strategy that will only get you banded from all reputable autoresponder services... and possibly other legal action.

    Hey bi3988

In this game there are no short cuts. If you want consistent success you must put in consistent hard work. Scapping the net for emails won't help you build an audience of responsive fans because you've failed to build any kind of relationship with them.

Think about how many emails you get every day and how many you simply delete because they provide no value.

Instead of wasting time with blackhat and illegal tactics, learn the basics of driving traffic to a landing page, offering some value in exchange for their email, and then following up with fantastic content that will build trust and credibility.

It takes time, effort and a lot of work but this is the foundation to long term success and profits.

    Hope this helps ....

I will keep it simple for myself to use well known autoresponder like AWeber and GetResponse first. I think for beginner this is great tools to start. Stay away from hype type AR. Mostly every course you learn in the beginning, the product's owner would recommend you to choose between AW and GR only. And not to mention many plugins API with AW and GR. Keep it simple. GR or AW. both works!

I've been with GetResponse, Aweber and lately with Active Campaign. Out of those 3, ActiveCampaign is best of the bunch. It has good deliverability rates and even better support that will go an extra mile to help you out.

With that being said, the best solution is a custom made one. Meaning you use external SMTP server and have a custom made application for your subscribers management.

Solution to which you can add functionality as your business grows.

The thing is, that while Aweber and GetResponse do fine with sending emails, they are not good for much else. In that respect, they are solutions that offer only basic limited functionality.

Even larger issue with them is that they don't integrate well or at all with other solutions. So, while sending email is the core of many businesses. Selling and being able to integrate with other solutions is the key for growth.

And the ones that do offer API come at the cost, especially as your list grows. For example Active Campaign costs around $175 (plus plan) for a list of about 5k, which is not even large list.

So I've been lately eyeing Mandrill and SendGrid and into building my own solution.

According to their website, Active Campaign is priced at $113 per month with 5K contacts. If paid annually you receive a discount that drops it to $96.05

Yes up to 5k contacts it is $113, but once you reach 5K + 1 it becomes $175 or $148 (yearly plan). Either way not a cheap pricing for a fairly small list.

Compare it with SMTP service like Elastic Mail + my own custom list management solution. This will cost only $6.65 a month (comes to 60k emails or 3 emails a week to for 5k subscribers list).

Which is why I started to look into building my own solution. Much cheaper and full control over the list and my emails delivery and everything else.

It depends on what you looking for. If your looking to send out basic autoresponder and broadcasts then Aweber,Getresponce etc will work for you. But if your look for a more
powerful solution such as seeing if a customer has click a link or tags. Like infusionsoft or ontraport then i would recommend ActiveCampaign at a fraction of the price then you would pay for the two above.

For building Email list you can check for some online websites which provides data of the website according to the category you are searching for.
They have limitation on number of profiles/data you check per day.
