How does Teespring do their email system that allows users to send emails to people who have purchased from them?

I assume this is some sort of custom system they have built themselves but is there anything similar that could be built into a website without having to build it completely custom?

I am looking to build something similar for a website I am developing and I would like to avoid the cost of doing this from scratch if possible.

      He means that whenever someone purchase a shirt from his campaign, he captures that customers email in the process, essentially building up a list.
