Hi to all Warriors!
I am soon starting with a blog in the weight loss niche and I will collect an e-mail list. I've read a lot of tutorials how to do it, but i can't understand one think. I hope you can answer me that question. Let say, I set up 5 follow up messages. First welcome, second, third, fouth - problem explanation, fifth - selling the product. But what then? What do i do with the list after those follow up? Do i just send them fresh content every week, or after few days send them 5 other follow up messages again?

Thank you

    Hey Maxolo,

Firstly, in my experience of setting up auto-responders, 5 follow-up messages is way too short to expect great conversions. Often, you need to build trust with people before they'll buy from you and that's a difficult thing to achieve in 5 emails.

The first thing I'd look at is what people are expecting from you when they join your list - what have you told or promised them as this point? It's important to make sure you make good on their expectations.

Secondly, make sure you write an email series that truly offers those people value - give them your best stuff that makes them sit-up and take notice.

Thirdly build engagement into your auto-responder - let these people know you're a real person and you want to help them.

Once they start to like, know and trust you then the sales process becomes so much easier.

In terms of that on-going relationship, I normally suggest having a great blog with incredible content is the best approach. Normally I do 2 things with blogs:

    1) Each blog post has it's own lead-magnet to get new traffic onto my clients lists
    2) Each blog post gets sent out to my subscriber list with a relevant non-pushy offer within it.

I hope this helps, but feel free to let me know if you need further help.

What would make you trust the emails and want to keep opening further ones? Put yourself in the shoes of the readers (as TrefG described) and you're sure to knock down the complexity that looms around you.

  • Tref has provided you some really good tips when it comes to building your list through newsletters. I also suggest you read blogs on how you write your newsletter content for better engagement and sales conversion. You have to ensure that the content you have in your campaigns are very useful to your target market since the goal is to build trust with your readers and once you've established that, it is easier to sell almost anything to them.

Thats great that you are building your blog and also your own email list!

    COngrats on that!

And well, you do not need to over-complicate Email Marketing.

Just keep it simple - I'm telling ya!

Just take is as if you are sending emails to a friend who you want to help, and from time to time you want to make an offer to buy something from you.

When it comes to email marketing - it is not so much about the size of your list, but the Quality of your list! ... you get what I mean?

Get very creative with this process.

Treat is as if you are sending a simple email to a friend - like I was mentioning above.

For example; today I recorded a 3 minutes video - just Thanking the people in my list for being a subscriber and thanking them for opening my emails. And I also tell them to unsubscribe if they dont like what I share and offer from time to time.

I try to do this every week or at least once a month. This is helping me with Conversion Rates a lot. Because you want to build a relationship with them - they are just simple average people after all!

Use your imagination to come up with new ways to share valuable content with them. Treat them as your friends - and never forget to also have call to actions - because you also want to sell stuff, right?

Just make it a combination of building a friendly relationship and also a customer relationship. You want to make sale, at the end of the day - while you help them as well - of course

But, before they consider buying from you - they need to trust you, and you also need to know what they need at the moment. That is why you should also do some Surveys from time to time.

Ask them questions, and just get to know the people in your list.

All of this will be a constant process, because you will be Building your list - right?

So, you are always going to be getting brand new people in there. Just get creative in ways to build a relationship with everyone - every time!

This is some advice I would give you for email marketing

    I hope it helps!

    Keep up the great work!!

  • I totally agree with the sentiments of FreedomBlogger above about keeping things simple. I wrote a post in this forum earlier about my Top 3 Tips for email marketing, where the idea of keeping it simple was at the core. I have included a link below if you wish to have a read:
