The most imprtant question ....

I see many blogs and posts about building a list. Even more now that Jimmy Kim did his bml2.0 but what no one is asking is this.

Where do you get your FRESH traffic from to your opt-in page???

You see, I can buy solo-ads but those are 99% reused users But I am more interested in the FRESH people, say 2000 subscribers in the first month) not the ones who have been bombarded hundred times before with campaigns. Is there anybody out there who can answer this question or is this whole email list building nothing else but MLM on the internet?

So this is I think the most important question. FRESH people is where the money sits.

I am really really curious who is out there that has real knowledge and not just MLM Bla bla.

I think the truth is we're all on multiple lists. Solo ads or no solo ads, we're all on lots of lists and everyone is competing for the same space, and awareness, in your inboxes (... we all have more than one, right?!)

If you're looking for 'virgin' leads that aren't on anyone's else's list... good luck, I don't think they exist and if you go after cold, uneducated traffic... that's a tough, tough sell.

When I look at my inbox, the majority of lists I'm on is thanks to word of mouth (... names dropped on podcast's and in articles) but I'm also on a ton of lists because someone recommended a person in an email.

While these (... in my mind) were innocent recommendations, maybe they weren't.

Maybe they were paid recommendations, maybe they were solo ads, some are definitely affiliate offers but in all cases I only clicked and joined someone else's list because I trusted the person recommending them.

After all my waffle... I think the real solution is learning how to stand out in someone's inbox, how to become the go-to expert, how to position yourself as the leader so it's no longer about reading subject lines and deciding to open an email -- it's about reading the name of the sender and opening the email because they're the bee's knees.

If you want fresh leads, paid advertising is probably your best route, especially with platforms like Facebook that let you narrow down to your target audience; however, as Big Al pointed out, cold leads are tougher.

There's a running joke that bad marketers become solo ad sellers.
Yes, there are good ones out there, but the majority of solo ad sellers are garbage.

The biggest lesson I've learned since being in the game is that you have to master direct response marketing. Marketers like Mark Hoverson and Jonathan Budd were masters at this.

When you can master direct response, you can place Facebook ads, YouTube ads, Google/Bing ads, whatever and laser in on your perfect avatar.

Traffic strategies will always change, but direct response principles will remain a core pillar of marketing success forever.

I don't really agree with Big Al about "virgin leads" being non-existent.
Every single day there are thousands of people who are (for the first time) running searches for how to make money online.

And with the way the economy has been going, it's only going to grow.

In fact, there's a book called Future Smart by James Canton, a guy who advised three White House Administrations on how to prepare for the future.

He said that digital marketers will make up over 70% of the global economy.
    7 out of 10 people.

So now is the time to position yourself for the future.

Interesting what you wrote about that book that 70% will be internet marketers. Maybe 50% I agree but 70% is very much. Anyway, I have been in the business for 14 years now and I admit I did a shitload of adult stuff and made a good living out of it. The best way to sell for me was email but I always bought the traffic and now I want to build my own fresh list. I don't mind paying for fresh leads since it is fresh and virgin. It is always better to make money out of that. I am not a big poster on forums neither. The reason is that I didn't had much time and I don't want to contribute bullshit. The Adult business has been tough the past few years so I had to switch to normal content. Now it is time to smash some bucks to get my own list so I was wondering if there is a way of getting fresh email subscribers. Building websites takes time, and to be honest, I am not a fan of writing articles. Hiring people to do that is also an issue since many people don't know what they write about and people will notice and leave your site. I have a good balance to try so If anybody knows what kind of traffic from where to buy I would be more than thankful for the information. I have been thinking about FB ads, but I think the ROI is not worth it since it can burn through the budget easily.
Buying Solo Ads to build your own email list is really MLM just a different twist on it. In my opinion fresh subscribers is where the REAL value is. Thanks all for the information, I will do more research on this.
