Take a look at this service Clean Your Email Address List for Less than a Penny - ListWise

We used them and found them to work really well, saying that though we dont have any experience using others so cant compare this service to anythings else we have tried

Here is a screenshot showing some of the results they got after cleaning

    hope this helps

There is more to buying a list and sending it, than just cleaning bounces.

Also companies that clean bounces are way overpriced!!!

I have a custom built program that basically uses a little program that I install on cheap VPS's or anywhere I can get inexpensive/clean IPs. I'm cleaning bounces from a large list right now, that would have cost me $10's of thousands of dollars using a service and it's costing me $150 for a vps and IPs.

If you plan to buy raw data or large lists, you want to have your own way to clean bounces, as you still need to have the data clean by an email hygiene company that removes known complainers, traps etc... So if you clean the bounces out, then your not paying to have those addresses cleaned (which is pointless, since they aren't deliverable anyway) and it will lower your cost.

Also, most hygiene companies don't remove bounces.

      very nice note

I only had a list of about 20k that I hadn't emailed for ages, it was a list of old software users.

Your script and custom coded application sounds like the way to go, something anyone that frequently uses cleaning services requires

May I ask which email hygiene company you use to remove the complainers/traps?

      Thanks

Theres a lot of software that does email list cleaning! just google: email list cleaning

they work in an algorithm similar to the algorithm that send email but it close connexion right before the email is sent, so it can grab the info about the email address. you can check that by yourself using Terminal commands: telnet.

Keep in mind that if you are using a program that runs off your local computer / using your ISP, that port 25 may be blocked or may trigger a problem with the receiving smtp if they care if the IP is static or dynamic. This is why I had a program built that use IPs from cheap VPS's. Plus multiple IPs can be used to speed the process up.

This doesn't work for @yahoo.com e-mail addresses which is a problem for this method.

Yes, yahoo returns that all addresses are good unless you send the message body and then they return if the address is really valid or not. But if the message body is sent, it will send a message to the email you are trying to verify, which defeats the entire process.

If you have good clean data, you could just mail it off a cheap VPS and collect the bounces for yahoo.

However, there is another way to verify yahoo, but requires a custom made program.

Email list verification is a process of determining whether list of an email addresses is valid and deliverable. Email list validation is offered as a hosted software / services. It is an address-by-address analysis of emails, from the uploaded list, to identify their deliver ability.

MailboxValidator verify and cleanup your email list. It connects to the mail server and checks whether the mailbox exists or not. It reduces bounce rate & costs. It increases conversion rate & sender reputation.
