Help with approach to an email campaign

I have a single product with an easily identifiable target market and can obtain several large email lists for my offer. My question is:

What approach would you test first? Sending out an html email completely laying out the offer with a direct link to the money site shopping cart or sending copy that drives them to the homepage of the money site for details?

Any insights would be appreciated.

I would use the email to generate interest and get them to click through to the sales page.

Do you know what you are doing when it comes to buying data?

    ^^This one.

Just make sure you're acquiring your leads from a proven and very good source. Don't buy from a list broker, or someone who says they'll sell you 100,000 "targeted" email addresses for $100.

  • Thanks guys - I'm thinking in the body of the email having an image of the product, Short copy with a few benefits and a link back to the main site. I'm also thinking of embedding a discount code but not the price. I'd like the reader to become intrigued, say to themselves "how much?" and click through.
