Your lead magnet will be right here on this very forum.

What questions get asked the most?

Don't worry about them being simple or easy.

How many times have people started threads asking a question only for people to reply saying "this question has been answered a thousand times".

You see some people can't even be bothered to search the forum. They would rather someone package the information for them.

  • One way to get inspiration is by looking at what your competitors are using. DON'T COPY THEM just look at the ideas then improve on it. Also ask your self what would your typical visitor benefit from them create that!

PS: Don't slap some BS PLR. I don't recommend it.

There are lot lead magnet, most simplest one is PLR product. To name few, you could make one list bout tools, plugins, and many more and convert it into pdf. Don't make yourself too complicated. Test...TEST..and Test..see what work best for your audience.

Yes, I know..just that is the simplest thing you could use as starters. Please get high quality PLR and edit it. I think many of IM do the same thing, clearly its not the best way but you can use this method if you out of idea.

What sector of IM are you targeting? Listbuilding? SEO? WordPress users? Social media? To give you a better idea of what to offer, I'd need to know more about who you're offering it to.

    Get out of this niche.

Go and sell a product about "how to become a celebrity musician in your city" or something like that.

I have to agree. No offense meant, but the last thing this "niche" needs is another person who hardly knows anything about it to start teaching other people.

If you don't have the knowledge to create a lead magnet about your chosen niche then how can you expect to provide others with valuable information?

I know everyone has to start somewhere, but before you attempt to become an authority in a niche you have to take the time to learn about it and become successful in it yourself.

I would say that somebody who is struggling to put together a simple 5-10 page lead magnet probably isn't experienced enough to teach others yet.

While I must say that I pretty much agree with Randall and nicheblogger, I'll also say this:

There is a relatively short list of things to keep in mind when creating a lead magnet.

-It shouldn't suck. This giveaway could potentially form many folks' first impression of you. I'm probably not going to open emails from a guy who just wasted my time with a terribly written piece of re-hashed garbage.

    - It doesn't have to be totally freakin awesome. What? Listen, besides the fact that an obscene number of people who opt in will never actually read your freebie, you don't have to be solving world hunger with your lead magnet. You want it to be quality, for sure...I'm not encouraging adding to the endless pile of crap out there. But I've seen people pour way too much time into their lead magnet, only to have their campaign completely bomb for a totally unrelated (or totally related) reason. There are definitely many benefits to over delivering on quality, but there are also benfits to just getting something of decent quality out there. That fact that it's free is not an excuse for it to suck...but remember, your totally perfect amazing free giveaway is not likely to be the make or break factor in your business being successful.

-Create it with a purpose. You obviously want to provide valuable content. No brainer. However, you also want to present the right content, in the right way, in order to basically warm up your audience for the rest of your funnel. It should be relevant, not only to the topic at hand, but to your OTO, your follow up series, your long term strategy for your list, your brand, etc.

Ok, there's probably more to it than I implied at the beginning of my point, but I guess what it comes down to is this: don't let it suck, don't over-complicate it or put undue stock in it, and create it with a purpose.

Also, regarding your question about hiring people to do this? Or course you can. There's people selling the service on WF and countless other markets. Also, there is some decent PLR out their that you can polish up and use to create a freebie.

But, as was suggested, maybe you're not really in the place to be teaching people just yet, if the lead magnet is presenting such a problem...or if you weren't aware of how easily outsourceable this is.

I'm going to mostly disagree with this. While obsessing over tiny details is counterproductive, it should be the best thing you are capable of producing. Where many people go wrong is making the lead magnet much too wide in scope and not nearly deep enough.

Your lead magnet should provide a small, quick win for the prospect.

Using your example, don't tackle "world hunger." Tackle "how to grow tomatoes in an old pickle bucket." Show them how, for under $5, they can have better tomatoes than they can buy at the store, in quantities that let them stock the pantry.

      <><><><><><><>

For the OP, I'm with Randall and Nicheblogger. If you can't figure out how to do a simple lead magnet, you have no business trying to teach it to anyone else. And don't tell us you are just an affiliate - the same ignorance means you probably can't tell a good product from a piece of raw compost.

I mean no disrespect, but how much of an expert are you on listbuilding when you don't know how to make a lead magnet (which is a cornerstone of listbuilding)?

Go back to the drawing board, and create around what you KNOW, whether that's in IM or not.

Would you rather we all held a pep rally and told you how wonderful you were, then fall on your face?

If it makes you feel any better, you aren't the first one to tread this path and you won't be the last. It might be IM/MMO, or it might be selling marketing services to offline businesses, but there's an ongoing epidemic of people trying to provide professional services and education while not being able to answer the most basic questions for themselves.

The good news is that your condition is not terminal.

Spend some time learning how to build a list for yourself in a niche other than "how to make money online." Pay your dues, and you won't have to ask how to create a lead magnet. Nor will you have to worry about finding PLR that you have no way of judging the quality of.

LOL. Spot on Lisa. Part of the equation in List Building is to be able to come up with a Freebie ,a.k.a Lead Magnet, that gives Value to the Prospect/Sub and makes them want even more.

And quite honestly if you are a supposed expert or tout yourself as such, this aspect should come second nature to you.

      Really!!

      • Although PLR gets a bad rap, I'd say in this situation ironically you would be best off using PLR. Since you don't know much about the topic yourself, a high quality PLR product is the only way to be sure (at least a little sure) that accurate info will be conveyed. If you're just in it to make some money by marketing products to this list in the future, then by all means continue on your present course. If you are planning on actually teaching people things yourself, then I'd agree with everyone else: get some experience under your belt in another niche fist.

You don't want to give people some BS piece of crap that will make them unsubscribe faster.
You need to be very aware of your current brand and what your audience is looking for, then think about your free offer.
By creating a short questionnaire you can get a picture of the problems your readers are actually struggling with.
It will give you an idea for a giveaway, and it can also be a good idea for real product.
