Why you should avoid solo ad vendors

Your ROI on Solo Ads will be greater if you find solo ad partners "manually".

Consider this:

You find some websites/blogs which are in a similar or related niche to your business.

You contact the webmasters and ask them if they could include a link to your squeeze page in their next mailing. They agree to do it for a fee, but before they will take your fee, they want to check out your squeeze page, find out what your offer is about, etc.

It's a longer, more tedious process. But the webmaster has a good relationship with his/her list and therefore only want to send them to high-quality offers.

Contrast that with:

1. Find a solo ad vendor in your niche
2. Pay them for 200 clicks
3. Send them your swipe
4. Sit back and wait for your list to build

The second process is easier, but what is the long-term quality of your list going to be like?

How many offers will your new list see every day?

You've added leads to your list, but they are still on the solo ad vendor's list too. How many offers will they continue to see each day? Will they even notice your mailings?

Did they just sign up to your list for your freebie?

Was that payment for 200 clicks worth it? Would 20 clicks from PPC have been more valuable?

Disclaimer: This is my experience with solo ad vendors, your mileage may vary.

The key to using solo ads is finding vendors that are constantly building their list so that have fresh subscribers.

Most vendors will tell you how many new subscribers that they get per day and some will up a special link for you that insures your solo will not be sent to the same people more than once if you become a repeat buyer.

However...I think contacting swap partners via your method is far better strategy. If you are to busy, you could hire a Virtual assistant to find partners for you.

I tend to stay away from people who main source of traffic is click swapping and click banking. I have found this traffic is not very good because these people usually only send you freebie seeker traffic.

    TS, you are on point
    Seriously.
If you buy from a professional solo ad seller, his ONLY product is his list.
    That's it.
    That's all.
His JOB is to build the list.
His job isn't to make sure that only people who are LIKELY BUYERS will be on his list.
It's a volume game to him.
Your approach is better. That's the only REAL strategy for solo ad buying AND is WAY CHEAPER than 'professional' solo ad sources.

In the MMO market this is about the only way you can get fresh, "un-bombarded with offers" subscribers.

    They can be extremely valuable.

I agree. They CAN be extremely valuable if the advertiser knows what he/she is doing.
With PPC, Keyword Intent is crucial.

It can mean the difference between a positive ROI and losing your shirt.

Sadly, the learning curve is STEEP.
      That's why PPC agencies exist.

David you are right. I have heard of people doing ok in buying solo ads the fast way. But when ever I tried building my list like that, they seem to be duds. I wasted alot of money with solo ads. I haven't tried buying from people here, just other areas.

In my experience, non-MMO vendors tend to be better, probably because they are using solos to complement the money they are already making in their businesses. If the solo ad sender has a strong relationship with their list your ad will do well. But I still think it's better to approach potential partners rather than use a professional solo ad vendor.

If a solo ad vendor's list is so responsive, and potentially so profitable, why is the solo ad vendor not keeping the list to themselves?

here is the skinny after $11,000 spend on solo ads.

    - some are crap and send fake or horrific quality.

    - some are mediocre. Where you get mediocre results.

    - Some are fantastic, where they have fresh lists, that get results everytime you use them.

The trick is finding the ones that work, and have fresh lists. They are out there, but it does take time to find them, and find the right people who give testimonials, and real reviews.

But once you find them, its like liquid gold. :-)
