How to get me off of your list

I've been on a lot of email lists as a Warrior Forum member over the years. I don't have a lot of cash to burn, so I'm probably not your ideal list member who will jump at your offer once you finally get around to putting it out there.

That said, I'm not opposed to the concept of being sold via email marketing. In fact I think it's a great way to earn a living.

However, there are a few ways to ensure that I will never buy anything from you and probably unsubscribe from your list.

I've listed them below, feel free to comment or add your own:

1. String me along. One of the most annoying tactics used by internet marketers today is the never ending story. I didn't join your list to hear your life story, I joined because you offered me something that I thought was valuable. Splitting up your "plan" into multiple emails when it does't need to be just makes me frustrated and I assume you don't really have quality content. Now, if you are offering actionable, quality material, such as real training, that is one thing. But don't try to keep me on the hook without giving me something I can actually put into practice right away.
2. Bait and switch. This is probably the most common and quite frankly the most unethical tactic I see. It's amazing how rampant this is and yet for me, it just makes me want to kick the dog... or you! When you say, "I'm going to GIVE you x product" in the subject and multiple times in the body, then you say, "If you buy y product, you get x for free" that is NOT the same thing! You start gaining my trust by saying you are going to hand over something of value without any payment (which is what FREE means). Then you say I have to buy something else that you either have been unsuccessful in selling to me already OR something that isn't even related to the free product. That's not cool man... not cool.
3. False apologies. I get it. Sometimes things happen that you are not planning on. However, I've been around long enough to know that many, if not most of the emails that go out to lists are planned in advance... which they should be. So, don't apologize for something that you clearly planned out days, weeks or even months in advance. It doesn't make you sound human, it makes you sound fake.

I'm sure there are more but I don't want to keep going at the moment. If you think I'm a "sore loser" or something, that's fine, I'm just sharing my opinion based on my experience.

I understand we are all here to make money, but it doesn't have to be underhanded. My time, like yours, is extremely valuable, so let's not waste it with sketchy tactics.

I firmly believe that if you are honest and helpful, you will attract the kind of customers you really want... loyal ones.

That's my 2 cent rant for the day! Have at it.
