Email Marketing business

I'm starting a service that will run email marketing campaigns for companies that don't use their email lists. Mostly 4-day promotions (each day a different product will be on sale).

What is the best way to track conversions from the emails I send?

If you have any tips on how I could improve this service I will be really thankful to hear them

    Hi!
Idon't have any technical knowledge about how to track the conversion rate by your self, but I know that your autoresponder provide that kind of stats.

The basic autoresponder services provides data with which you can determine the open rates for each mail sent but to enable you track conversion after the subscribers click on the link, you will need a tool to enable you achieve that. That is clickmeter.

The conversion rate for your email can be tracked when the conversion code provided by clickmeter or any other tracker is placed on the check out or thank you page. The code will be triggered when someone either checks out or is redirected to the thank you page. Which means that, you have closed a sale.

When you link a tracking link to a conversion pixel in your email campaign, you will specifically discover the email follow-up or broadcast that is generating the most sales. The beauty of this again is that not only will the analytics display the number of times the email converted, you will see the subscriber that converted.

Hope you know that for you to get the best out of your email campaigns, you need to test and tweak the elements of your email just as you would do to a landing page.

You need to the subject lines because there are some words that tend to increase open rates of email.

Another element you might have to test in your email campaigns is the sender name. Most peole use their actual names. Test using the name of a person within the company or the name of the company itself. Test both to see the one that has the higher open rate.

Another important element to take cognizance of is the time of the day the email is sent.

SPlit testing the elements on your email is equally as important as the landing page. That is where the CTA leads to. Most people generally direct the CTA to either the site homepage, a deep link with website such as a product or features page and a dedicated landing page, solely for the product. From experience, the dedicated page for the product seemed to work the best because there are no leakages on the page.

Other elements to split test are
The Format and structure of the body of the email
Images that are used if any
    Offers
    Pricing

    Hope this helps

  • These are readily available in the stats of your email list or autoresponder series. You can check if someone clicked a link or if your email was opened or not.

You can also use a post back, where you put the email address of the user being mailed to in the offer url and then the affiliate/cpa platform (which I assume is what you will be promoting) will post the info back to the specified url and then you will know the actual email address of who converted.

Segment the opens and clickers from the main list and track then and track them individually. Eventually the main list that all the openers and clickers keep getting removed from will start making less than the cost to send it and it's time to stop mailing to it.

After you break-even on your acquisition costs, then it all comes down to your ROI in your sending costs. Now in your case you don't have acquisition costs, but you are splitting profits. So if you reduce your costs by only mailing to addresses that are responsive, you will increase your ROI and you and your client make more.

Invest in a domain and address verifier, as you don't know how old the list is and what addresses will bounce and I assume your plan is to use an autoresponder and if you upload a bunch of bounces, there is going to be a problems. You may want to consider a list manager as well. But you could let this slide untill you actually really need them.
