How to properly build a list if I have multiple interests?

I have multiple interests like programming, marketing, design and I also build web apps. Lets say I put out a small ebook about tricks I learned with Internet marketing and ask for people's email.

How should I manage the list? Should I brand it with my identity and send updates about all my products and ebooks to all the folks from different disciplins ? Wouldn't that be irrelevant and waste of their time?

Or should I maintain a separate list for each discipline? What approach do you suggest and why?

I would suggest you keep a separate list for each discipline. This will help you to ensure that you send the right content to the right people. If you just send all kinds of different stuff to one big super list then your subscribers will probably become disinterested eventually

For example, I'm interested in marketing. If I joined your list for tips on marketing then that's what I'll expect from you. If you start sending me content on programing then I'll just unsubscribe because I have no interest in that topic

    I hope that help

Your list has to be targeted, so you will need to make separate lists.

If you send all the different info out to one huge list, 2 things are going to happen,

    1. your emails aren't going to get opened

    2. your be getting put in the spam folders

you have to be targeted and relevant to the topic.
