Back To List Building. Please Advices?

Hi,

In past, i tried to build a list but have no success.

Now, i want to build a list again. I want to have some advices.

First of all, i read some bad reviews of Aweber that people have problems with it?

Is it still no.1 auto responder or people are using something different?

My second question, is there any other way of making a tier-1 list except solo ads?

Solo ads are good, but it's really expensive.

For example, if i want a 100k list, i need to spend something like 100k$ for solo ads.

Thanks for your help

Aweber has a free or one dollar one month trial I believe.

    Getresponse is good too.

What were you trying to build a list with in the past? You had no signups? What incentive were you offering to get people to give you their email address?

My list was about internet marketing.
I give my free ebook that was about adsense money making to get emails. I had some signups especially with solo ads.
But i found it very expensive, i want to know if there are cheapers way to have a list of 100k+ ?

the best way to get leads is to start your products and sell them on this forum or give them away for free. these are very targeted leads.

Hey OP, I know exactly how you feel.

Building an email list can be daunting to say the least, but once you start, it's difficult to stop.

The first time you start to get optins consistently, it gives you all the motivation you need.

Try exploring free traffic methods (Youtube, Slideshare, WF classifieds) until you have a list of roughly 300 people, and then if your list is starting to make money invest in some solo ads.

List building is awesome because it's essentially just about "rinsing and repeating".

    To your success,

    Luke

You need to optimize EVERY step of the way! Starting with your first email! Build this habit of optimizing and you can have a well oil machine that most people only dream about! Yet it so easy and so many people don't want to do it. Kinda funny but it is what it is...

It is really hard to build list for newbie. At first he don't get enough Leeds if he have not implemented solid strategy and you have to pay monthly payment to autoresponder company. This math is quite frustrating.

So, before you start your email list campaign you should have solid strategy.

You should have atleast 30 fallow-up emails ready at your auto-responder.

You should have taken care that you don't have too many unscribers.

How effeicient was your attempt in 'trying' to build a list?

How many subscribers did you get?

How well did your optin-page convert?

What offers did you use for monetization?

    I love Aweber...

Unfortunately I'm losing out on tons of opens with them and will be moving elsewhere.

As of this moment, I don't have any recommendations until I test other autoresponders.

I was recently reminded of something that applies here. People have been saying that "the money is in the list" since the first time AOL chirped 'you've got mail' with a commercial newsletter. It's one of those sayings that sounds good, but it's almost right.

The money is not in the list. The money is in what you do with that list. "What you do with your list" is something you want to nail down before you start building, because it will influence every decision you make.

Start with the big one. What do you want your subscribers to ultimately do? Buy a single product from you, either as a direct seller or an affiliate? Buy multiple products as they move through a predesigned funnel? Sign up to a churn and burn style list, where you bomb out offers as fast as you can locate them?

If you don't know where you want to go, any road will take you there.

Next, what are you prepared to offer in exchange?

You mentioned that you used an Adsense guide as a lead magnet. Did you follow it up with additional information and offers related to that model? Or did you start banging away with sort of related as long as it pays IM products? You need to map out your series of offers before you buy the first solo ad, post the first social media post, etc.

I could go on, but this post is already getting long and I can't give a complete tutorial in one forum post.

Those are the two biggies, though. What do you want your subscribers to do, and what value do you propose to give in exchange? Once you know that, you can start thinking about your marketing chain - attracting interest, piquing desire, motivating action, and following through.

    Good luck to you.

What's with the obsession of building a list of 100k people?

It's not going to happen overnight, so forget about it. Grow a profitable list and reinvest profits into solo ads to grow it quicker, if you want.

Right. Better to have a list of 1k that buy from you than 100k that never do.

"The money is in the list" is probably the most overused and misunderstood phrase in IM.

      Cheers. - Frank

TRy aweber. I have been using it for long and it has served me well.

I would advice you to try to stick to one thing for substantial period of time before trying another thing. I would suggest building a list through newsletter of your blog. Those subscribers will be the most loyal ones.

There are many ways to build a list, but the best ways are the good old Solo Ads, but nowadays, a lot of marketers are building their lists using Facebook Ads, It's far cheaper than Solo Ads, plus you get better-targeted Prospects, especially if you run a contest...

About Aweber, well a lot of people use their service, especially Affiliate marketers, therefore they probably receive TONS of daily Spam complaints, Some people lately have started complaining about their Deliverability rates.

I would advise you to use ActiveCampaign, especially if you will focus on Autoresponders more than Broadcasting, they have a lot of nice features, some of the Top marketers I know are ditching Aweber in favor of ActiveCampaign.

IMO AWeber is one of the better autoresponders. I've never had an issue.

What is the niche? There are many ways to build a list, what;s your budget?

      Thanks everyone for advices.

I'm just trying to start anywhere, any niche. Maybe i may promote clickbank products and build some lists on a few niches.

My budget is around 1k monthly for this project.

Yes building a list is large investment a list of 100K will cost you anywhere from $50,000 to 100K depending on is you also do solo ad swaps, I recommend you build your list to about 8000 subscribers then start doing solo swaps... Getresponse is good also, when email marketing over time you may get suspended, nature of the business. Just back up your list often at least once per week. Hope this helps, send me message if you like to chat.

I have recommended both GetResponse and Aweber but you may find some comments on line that Aweber is little easier to navigate and those comments could be from 3 years ago or yesterday.

If you were a product creator that is the best list to have but you still need to hone your emailing skills even with a receptive crowd.

When you truly want your recipients to succeed over just getting in their wallets they can feel the difference in that ton of email they get weekly.

I found an awesome and almost free way to target traffic, done correctly and you should definitely see ROI.

You create a Fanpage on Facebook, lets say the Niche is 'Classic Novels'. Now everyone who joins is going to like Classic Novels otherwise they wouldn't 'Like' the page in the first place. You will obviously have to set up a great page with captivating content. Then the way you get them in is 'A FREE Giveaway!' e.g Top 100 Novels published by Penguin!. You then run a competition that lasts say 6 months. To qualify for the competition you must enter your E-mail address and name (on an opt-in form).

This way you have targeted traffic. You aren't paying to Boost your posts. Friends of Friends will see it and join. Not only will you generate fans buy you will be boosting your leads with actual e-mail address's.
You can also monetise this straight out of your Facebook page with your Thank You Page e.g Google Adsense, Affiliate links to related products etc. Set up your auto-resposner and DONE.

The competition will cost you a few hundred i'm guessing, but over a 6 month period, it's not much.
This can also be done with holidays or a wider niche.

    Hope this helps my friend

    1. Never had a problem with Awerber in 3 years. They know what they're doing and their knowledge base is huge. I now just heard of sendlane so you might check that out too.

    2. Ever considered Facebook ads? I mean, with good copy and targeting, post engagement ads can bring you 10-15 leads, if not more, starting with as low as 5$ a day. You might want to look into that.

    Hope this helps!

I've never had an issue with Aweber.

But then again, I only send plain-text emails, which get through the spam filters much easier than HTML.

In terms of driving free traffic to your site, Linkedin should provide you with some good results. Write regular articles and put your call-to-action at the bottom of each one. This should see you should get plenty of opt ins. (As long as you're enticing them with a free "gift" that is actually appealing to them.)

Also, make sure you track where all your email leads are coming from.

OP doesn't seem to have any idea what he's going to do with this list. IMO building a list without any idea on what to use it for is like throwing bricks on a pile and hoping a beautiful mansion will appear ...

How to build a list will depend heavily on what kind of 'offers' you are going to send to that list or the way you want to monetize it. A list used for selling solo ads is very different from a list built to sell your own product, again is very different from a list used to sell affiliate offers or CPA ... a list in the MMO niche is very much different from a list in the health niche, or the dating niche or any other niche for that matter ...

Get a plan together OP! Figure out what to use the list for! Build your funnel accordingly! Only then think how to drive traffic!

    [ BUILDING A LIST ]

Of course you need at first 2 elements:

    - Autoresponder

    - Giveaway and Opt-In page.

You need a good autoresponder, not a cheaper one.
Shift from Aweber to something more professional, as ActiveCampaign or Sendlane.

Cause you need to have automation: these are different mails you can send depending on what the prospect does. As es. if the lead clicks the link in the mail X you will send the mail Y, if not you send the mail Z.

Then you need a STRATEGY: how to build a List.
The best is having DIFFERENT SOURCES of leads.

If you're good in targeting the users go to Fb Ads.
If you wanna use Google Adwords but you need cheaper clicks: go to Display Ads in Google Adwords, but you need to know how to do it, in Traffic Travis Blog there are some advices.

THE BEST if you wanna FAST RESULTS and you have not much expertise is EMAIL MEDIA (Solo Ads).
There are different sources of solo ads: go to Udimi, is perfect for newbie and it has a lot of benefits, like tracking, testimonials in real time, etc.

Then download the FREE GUIDE of LEAD NURTURING in Leadpages Blog. Search for it.

    GIVEAWAYS and OPT-IN PAGES
    .

Your giveaway has to be correlated to what u're going to sell after. So if you wanna sell some weight losses affiliate prodcuts, your giveaway has to concern to losing weight without pills etc.

The best tools for making opt-in/landing pages are LeadPages and Optimizepress. With the first you dont' have to have a website, it's self hosted, and the templates are organized in conversion rate list.

With Optimizepress you have to install it in Wordpress.
Most of the users use optimizepress, it has been created by a Graphic Designer, so you have that classic horizontal layout which tends to full the page in horizontal way.

If you plan to deliver a big flood of traffic, think on HOW MUCH traffic your hosting has, which is different from the bandwith,
Leadpages takes care of all so you can deliver how much traffic u want.

If u use Sendlane you have an interface similar to Leadpages with the autoresponder. But less automation comparing to ActiveCampaign
