What's your Unsubscribe Rate?

I would love to know what your:

- List Niche is
- Email Frequency
- Single opt in / Double Opt in
- Open Rate Per Email
- Unsubscribe Rate Per Email

I'm curious to know what the averages are for everyone so that I know what to expect when marketing to my list. I'm worried about my emails getting marked as spam, even though people know what they are signing up for, after reading the laws about SPAM has got me paranoid that even if a single person marks the email as spam or unsubscribes that it can mean million dollar fines.

What are your thoughts? Is there a better/safer way to reach your customers?

    - List Niche : Personal Development
    - Email Frequency: 3 times a week
    - Single opt in / Double Opt in: Single Optin
    - Open Rate Per Email: 10-15%
    - Unsubscribe Rate Per Email: 0.3-0.5%
    - Spam complaints: 0.02-0.03%

Spam complaints are inevitable. No matter what you send some will not like the contents of your emails and will mark it as spam. Just try to nurture your list as much as possible with valuable content, make your emails as personal as possible (the Inbox is a very personal platform) and try to send the most relevant content to your list if this means segmenting your list make an effort do segment based on their interests.

This is completely untrue. Spam complaints have nothing to do with any laws.

Most of the data I send is purchased w/ permission from users to receive messages from 3rd parties. As long as I follow can-spam I'm completely legal.

You are being super paranoid....relax. You have nothing to worry about.

      Listen to what ^ said.

Spam complaints have nothing to do with the law. It generally involves a hater or someone highly intolerant that no longer wants to hear about your success and how you can help them and they mark the email as spam, even though they signed up to your list.

Spam complaints will not effect you in terms of the law. However, if you would like to do your best to avoid spam complaints, you should ensure that you have the following things in check:

    - Studying your niche. Subscribers can see straight through a phony. Therefore, it is important you understand the product or information you're promoting.
    - Be sure to use opt-in subscribe popups that ask for confirmation. This will improve the quality of your mailing list. Also, it will provide proof for any unwarranted spam complaints.
    - Be clear with your subscribers about what to expect.
    - Pay close attention to the credibility of the information that you provide your subscribers with.
    - Make sure that your information is factual, relevant and reliable.
    - If no one is biting back, don't keep pushing it. It is important you use a tracking tool like Click.org to see how well your subscribers are responding to the information, sites or products you're promoting. The last think you want to do is assume everything is working when it may not be.
    - Finally, don't wait too long after people subscribe to send your first email. Because people are prone to forgetting they signed up in the first place!
