If you're on a tight budget the best autoresponder you will find is Listwiredotcom. It's free.

I have found that aweber works fine for many people with diverse needs. I myself am using it and do not really have any complains.

    Hi there,
As per your question, I would suggest you turn to hybrid email marketing solution which is though a new concept in the world of email marketing but an useful tool for email marketing.
In a hybrid email marketing solution, you will have to connect an SMTP server with the hybrid email marketing tool, and you complete this integration process, you can start sending out emails to your subscribers.

Our marketing team is using EasySendy Pro-- a hybrid email marketing solution which has been designed primarily to send bulk emails. As said in the above paragraph, we connect the SMTP server with our Pro account and then start sending out emails to our subscribers. Our marketing team has seen a huge change in the email deliverability rate in subscriber's inbox (and not in the spam folder), thereby increasing email open rate and click through rate. This has also increased the flow of ROI in our business solution. Apart from this, you will be able to optimize your email marketing budget in EasySendy Pro, which I consider to be one of the most significant advantage of using hybrid email marketing solution.

I recently built a mailer just like it, to use with smtp services. It doesn't have any fancy graphs, as I do not need them and I don't have the custom domain policy, but that would be very simple to add, if needed.

My question is, do you have to signup prior directly with smtps or you go through them to add them? It almost sounds like you go through them.

You'll have to sign up with the SMTP server before integrating it to a hybrid email marketing solution.

    Hi Harvey,

    What size is your list?

I use MailChimp and I find it works great but there are only 2000 or so people on my list.

I'm not sure how it would work if you're thinking on a larger scale than this?

I'm using SENDY which is self-hosted and connects with Amazon SES. Very cheap (10,000 emails for $1) but Amazon SES is very picky regarding bounce rates, spam rates etc which must be very low.

It really depends on what kind of emails you are going to send out
and also what kind of list size we are talking about.

Many autoresponder companies don't allow affiliate marketing, dating, Make Money online ... emails. Before you decide on a service read the TOS if your kind of topic is allowed or not.

I have also been using mailwizz and sendy, both self hosted apps, sendy can be used with amazon ses, mailwizz offers a wide range of services to integrate (mailgun, elastic email, ...etc)
All of these also have their policies regarding use and mails you can send.

Mailchimp is great for smaller lists, up to 2000 subs it's free if you don't send out too many emails.

You also want to consider the ease of integrating opt-in forms into your pages, ease of designing these forms, whether you want to have only confirmed subscribers or if you need people to be able to opt in at once without having to confirm in an extra email.

If you are new to mailing I'd wouldn't consider any form of self hosted mailing, as it takes a bit of understanding and skill.
