It's EASY: AVOID MAILCHIMP! Use ActiveCampaign. If you're serious about email marketing...

AC is almost as bad as MailChimp. There are far better ESP's out there with way better delivery.

I imagine it would be best to do this using photoshop or some other image editor. I dont believe you can do layering like this is a basic ESP email editor.

I agree with ProducerK - there are better ESP's with higher delivery rates.
If you're seriously thinking about doing Email Marketing long term go for Aweber or GetResponse.
On top of that Mailchimp is restrictive on what email you send out. Anything with any kind of affiliate link will basically get you booted from their services. Not to mention importing any old legitimate lists you may have.
They're more like a newsletter type of ESP now from my experience.

I use MailChimp and I *think* I know what you're talking about, what you're trying to do. You want to write something above, but not "on top of" the image, right? Like an introductory phrase or title?

You have to use the MailChimp editor but you have to know a tiny little bit of HTML.

You might be able to find a tutorial on YouTube though. That's always my first go-to resource for almost anything.

  • Doesn't mail chimp have a support team that could help with this? In any case, I would be amazed if this were possible. You don't usually have an image editor built in. Just use something like Power Point, edit the image there, then just insert your edited image into the email.

No, there is no "image editor" built into the optin forms. You have to create your own image and know some HTML to insert the image code into the form, above the optin form code itself.

I did mine in PhotoShop, but you can also use Gimp, Paint.NET or any number of image creators/editors. Upload the image to your server, copy the URL for the image and then add that to the form code.

Anyway, YouTube has a lot of video tutorials for working with MailChimp signup forms. Just Google "edit mailchimp form code."

    You can't and you shouldn't.
This has nothing to do with Mailchimp.
Only some of the people reading the email will be able to see background images. This is due to the different email clients, gmail, yahoo, Outlook etc supporting different styles.
