Change e-mail address for the list

If I want to start list building and use double opt-in then they need to confirm that it's OK to receive mails from me.

So if I let's say in the future have 500 people on my list, and then I want to change my e-mail address that is used for sending out to my list. Can I change it along the way?

So when using double opt-in, and they confirm the subscription request, what are they actually saying YES to. Is that to receive e-mails from that particular e-mail adress, or to be on a particular list?

Yes it is fine to change your from email address. Just don't change the from name. They agreed to receive emails from you or your company.

I would recommend mentioning the change and telling them to white list this new email though.

    • Yes, I quite agree with Rob. The agreement was that, 'it was your company name they had connection with', so whenever there is going to be a change of email address, its good you inform them asking them to white list the new address so they can't mix your mails in their inbox.

It doesn't matter if you are building a single opt-in or double opt-in list, the users are essentially opting in to be on the list itself. They will come accustomed to seeing it sent from a specific from name, which will usually be a personal name or company name.

Think about it when you receive mail and what you see. You are usually going to see John Doe or XYZ Marketing, instead of the actual email address xxx@xxx.com. So you just want to keep the from name the same, so that when they see your message, it is still from who they associate it with.

All services have a way to add or receive addresses that you can use to send with. So changing an address, is not an problem.
