I have had decent success this past year with an MLM company, but looking to expand my income. I only make 4 digits a month right now, which isnt bad residually, but i want to put my effort into several different things.

I recently found out about email lists, and how valuable they really are. I have a fairly decent network at the moment, i have about 5k followers on facebook, and about 15k on instragram. I also have about 1900 customers in my MLM organization. Im curious, as to if i could use building a targeted email list to obtain positive results and attention to my MLM organization, or would i be better off keeping them completely separate and going just pure affiliate?

My idea was to direct traffic to an email submission page (not sure exactly what my offer or attraction will be yet), and re-direct to a thank you page, with an affiliate product in the same niche. I'm not quite sure if this is a positive or negative thing, and i would like opinions, or maybe even facts from someone who has been around the block already.

I'm starting completely new at this, i'm a quick learner, but i know the first place to start in any business is advice from people who are already successful. So, i would appreciate any suggestions, recommendations, opinions, or whatever input would be greatly appreciated.

Also, i don't have alot of money to just dump into internetland right now for a rocket fast start up, so im looking for cost friendly alternatives.

Also, opinions on paying a mentor being on a budget and new?
And, opinions on sites like safe swaps? Would they be ideal for my to dip my toes into yet?

I'm really not sure what you're asking. I'm assuming you're currently selling MLM in the health and fitness market only because it seems to be the most popular and because you mentioned Instagram.

My first question would be, how do you communicate with your visitors and buyers now? Is it solely through social media or do you have a site? Email marketing is only a means to connect you with your customer. Obviously, email would be a fairly normal way for you to reach your customers. However, it's impossible to say whether or not is would produce better results than what you're doing now.

Without knowing anything about your current model, my advice would be that it probably wouldn't hurt to collect their emails and communicate with them via email.

I don't see what your strategy is. Are you leaving MLM? Are you looking to find upsells and cross-sells to your MLM products? Are you getting into affiliate marketing? Are you creating you own information or physical products?

Your strategy will greatly influence everything. What's your objective/strategy?

Im just looking to make the most money from home as possible, i used to write gaming guides/youtube and what not. That market is dead for me now.

my MLM is service based. Energy/tv/cell phone/home security/internet/credit card processing, and soon to be insurance.

As far as communicating, i attract alot of attention on facebook/insta, get them to a presentation, and do coaching. As far as getting personal customers, i've been doing door hangers (15 thousand hung) and community boards at local places. And getting 10 referrals from every customer i sign up.

I've always been into 4-6 streams of income at one time. And i love cross marketing. I've never messed with email at all, and i've just heard, and researched that email can be and is very successful. Im just not even sure where to start, or what to ask.

Its very easy for me to self educate myself, im just so clueless at the moment, that i dont even know where to begin.

So i guess what im asking pretty much, is should i keep MLM seperate from email marketing and use email for something completely different like affilate or pay per click?

Im just looking for opinions and suggestions.

If I were you, I'd start helping your fellow MLMers to get more people. By creating trainings, or recommending softwares to make them better at what they do.

It will make you more cash, and keep you in good graces. What you've done in MLM is great. Most people get 3 folks and just wish more people sign up.

Looks like you know what you're doing.

Probably good start might be to put an Optin on FB Page and start developing a List that way.

Some kind of freebie where you can give them a 'How to' on getting more recruits in their downline, 'How to' guide getting their List motivated to sell etc..etc..

Sounds like you are really on the right track. Good luck

Absolutely- you definitely want to build a list from your various followers, but you want to do it with a purpose. In other words, think from the offer back to your opt-in. I would certainly test some affiliate products (depending on your niche), so offer an opt-in around a high-value incentive in that same area...you really must stay very well point between the opt-in incentive that gets people to sign up and the offers you put in front of them following (as well as the communicating in between). If you stray off course, that's where response goes way down.

You seem to have some pretty good talent in the engaging audience. That is all an email marketer can dream about.

I'll suggest you to find a relative product to your field and promote it over your social media sites and also create some catching emails and forward them to your list. You can use affiliate marketing sites like Clickbank.

Keep sharing value through your emails Haze. If you really, really, really help your subscribers through your emails, giving them plenty of meat to chew on - blog posts, videos, podcasts, free reports, etc - you'll both grow your list and inspire subscribers to buy whatever you have to offer through your emails. Focus heavily on helping, with free content, and your subs will grow to know, like and trust you. Then some folks will buy your premium products - or affiliate products - and you'll monetize your list nicely.

"You must have heard that emails are dead and now FB/Google ads work, push notifications work. But trust me, emails are better than ever!"

agreed, every single time i think about implementing push notifications, i come back
to simple good old email . Because every time i go to a site with that new stuff,
i click away as fast as possible and close that popup.

If you had 1900 customers on your own email list, you would have made five to six figures last month. Get out of MLM.

I don't think one should be excluded from the other. Do both email marketing with your MLM list (independently if you will) and never ever leave your MLM network which you have worked so hard to develop. You said it best when you said you love to cross-market haze.

I agree with your point , that email list are very valuable nowadays. As you mentioned that you have about 5k followers on facebook, and about 15k on Instagram, then why dont you use this list for your email mnarketing purpose . Have you ever tried using hybrid email marketing solutions ?

Hey there Haze, I tried to leave you a video answer, but it didn't take.

Anyhow, one way to get started on a low budget is using MailChimp (free but not an autoresponder/no follow up sequence),

    OR

Aweber (free for 30 days then $19/mo) or Get Response (free for 30 days, $15/mo). Both of these ARE autoresponder email marketing services (automated follow up emails).

Since you have existing customers and a lot of prospects on social media, I think it would definitely be worth looking into.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I think it may be a lot less expensive and time-consuming as leaving door hangers.

As for mentorship, I don't know your budget...but make sure you get someone with an EXQUISITE reputation and make sure you know EXACTLY what you're getting.

There's coaches out there that don't really do a 1 on 1 type of coaching. It's just a webinar you attend once a week.

I didn't like that kind of coaching myself.

I prefer, access to the coach via email or some other way and 1 on 1 meetings.

    Hope this helps!

    -Phillip Lopez

P.S. One more thing on solo ads (Safe-swaps). I'd say you already have a bunch of interested prospects. People on those kinds of sites are accustomed to seeing a lot of offers. Since you''ll be new to email marketing, I personally wouldn't recommend that option because you'll be spending money while you learn rather than having a system in place and just sending traffic to it.

    Just my 2 cents.

I think that MLM is the worst business you can dive in....but it's my personal Point of View due to the fact that you are working for another one brand.

    Not yours.

You're not in control of the cost, of the percentage of rewarding, and definately if MLM stops working you lose your entire business.

Building an email list could be your lifeline: if all will shut down, you will have your list anyway.

If you have an MLM i dont think that redirecting to affiliate's page is the best choice: why dont you redirect to the sign up page of your MLM?

In any case, the best source for list building in this particular case could be Solo Ads.

Try Udimi, or Scott Price Solo Ads, or Cyza solo ads, or join Fb's group of solo ads.

Then you have to nurture them.

Another cool traffic source for quality leads is Youtube Ads: cheap and with some tricks and settings you can target even better than facebooks ads sometimes.

    And also Facebook Ads obviously.
