From the very first email on, use cliff hangers. Give them a taste of what is coming in the next email. Make it something they will look forward to. This way they are actually looking for your next email.

Hey thanks Rob, I appreciate the input. I'm not looking for a course on how to
get opens or anything, but can you elaborate any further?

Like one thing I would recommend is that in the first email you leave something like:

"If you wanna get a kick-butt training on how I blah blah blah without blah blah blah
simply reply "more leads" (or something like that) to this email and I'll send it to you."

      Thanks,

      -Phil

You need to use story telling in your emails. At the end of the email start telling the next part of the story and right when it gets exciting...

To be continued in Thursday's email.

    go ANTI-INTUITIVE !

The worst mistake lot of marketers make is being too much professional:

i mean a mail like "Here is your XXX provided by StupidCompany LCC for your f**king curiosity" sounds too much professional.

The leads are PEOPLE. They receive too many emails from companies and unknown spammers.

Try to be more PERSONAL without making a claim.

Something like "I never want to did it: but it worked. Also for you probably..."

Or "Not Quick Rich scheme in This report. Only strategy that works."

      Well put!

I hate when I get emails like that lol.

      So impersonal!

How about standing out for a change!

Make the content of your email more engaging . Use the recipients first name in your opening, and then write your content as if you were writing to one person alone.

I have a couple tips but first there's something you have to remember--to some extent it's natural for your email open rate to go down as your list grows larger. People are busy and they sign up for all kinds of reasons and then forget why they've signed up or get so busy they can't even keep up with all of their work emails.

With that out of the way, my first tip is to ask a question in either the email header itself or the preview text. Always invite people to participate in your newsletter somehow or provide some kind of feedback. People like feeling like they're part of something, like they're contributing to your work.

My second tip is to reduce the amount of email you send. As everyone else has said and I've already said, people are busy. It's better to send one slightly longer email a week than two emails a week. I've unsubscribed from almost all my newsletters that went out more than once a week because I simply can't keep up with that much email on top of all the email I manage for work. It's also hard to make sure that all of that content really is the highest possible quality, so reducing the amount of email you send out will make life easier for everyone.

Hey thanks for the tips DGSEO.

So you only send out one email per week?

I'm just curious...what niche are you in?

    Solution in my opinion:
    1. One should provide value to the subs - educate them and keep them engaged.
    2. Use open-loops on your emails - ask questions on your email, answer a few and keep others unanswered. Tell your subs that your next email will provide the answer. This will make your users wait for your next email(s).
    3. Do not over pitch.
    4. Build a relationship with your list by sharing your own stories and details about yourself sometimes.
    5. Use a friendly tone while communicating with them.

There are a few things that I'd recommend to help you get a better open rate - it depends on your industry of course, but these two general points should see you get a better response.

    1) Work on your headline.
It's the most important part of your email and there's a lot of pressure on those few words! Your headline needs to be engaging, informative and make people want to click for more. You could put an offer in there, you could start to tell a joke, or you could give a teaser of what's in the email. Your headline doesn't need to be written first, but it does need to be the most thought out sentence of your whole email campaign. One thing - don't promise something in your headline that you don't deliver in your email, that will just leave people feeling frustrated.

    2) Optimise for mobile.
The majority of the population read their emails on their mobile phone these days, and it's something that's getting missed time and time again! Make sure your email preview works on a mobile because if it takes too long to load, or your content isn't compatible with someone's hand held device, you've missed your golden opportunity to get someone to click through, and it's unlikely that they'll be back!!

    Good luck!

      Hey great points here mattsuth.

Definitely got to have a kick-ass headline and think about mobile users!

I know I check my email on there often that's for sure.

The subject line is vital, obviously. If it doesn't get opened, it doesn't get read. To craft a great subject line, you must know your audience, their problems, and their true motivations.

I wrote this on Business2community a while back on getting your emails opened.

Make your subject line catchy. Write content that provides value, and keep it interesting! Don't use too much jargon - this may overwhelm your audience.

Use a compelling Call To Action - make sure it's easily visible and attention grabbing.

If you teach your subscriber, educate them and provide value, high quality content, your subscriber will open and read your content no matter what your subject line says. Of course must your subject line match the contents of your email. But if you are known as one who deliver quality content, teach your subscribers, your subscriber will open your emails.

  • Hello there,

The Key to success for a campaign includes:
-Headings (Pop user's attention to read the e-mail)
-Content (don't bore the custommers, simply give them content you created carefully
-Design (well-crafted designs can increase the average time a user spends reading the email [17-20 sec on average without design].)

We always advise our custommers to include all these but not overdo them, since the user engagement would drop if you include too much design or too much content.

What is your CTR rate? What's your opened emails rate?
The campaigns we run for our custommers vary between 40-50% Conversion Rates

Hope this helps you get a general ideea

    Cheers
