Starting with affiliate marketing

Hello peeps,

I have to confess something.. I'm new here, in fact, I'm new to affiliate marketing. I don't have a lot of experience in affiliate marketing at all. I'm hoping to get some tips on how to get started in affiliate marketing from this group. I'm eager to learn!

1. If you were starting today, how would you start with affiliate marketing?
2. What tools/books/videos/coaching would you recommend for me to get started?

I'm totally open and ready to jump in, in fact, I started last week running a few campaigns on Bing from Clickbank. I haven't made much money at all, only 1 sale for $24.95, but I'd like to keep going.

Thanks,

_juju

Great question It is a fantastic question and I have said if I stared again I would do Affiliate marketing. Tools I would use 1 Must have a blog with your own content never purchase content. 2 Easy Video Suite If you do not have the money to purchase now purchase nothing else until you have., 3 Camtasia Another great program. Now Before you jump into any training do research on 1 What you want to sell . I say this because if you keep to a niche people will get to know you in that niche. But affiliate marketing is not about selling someones product for a commission. Far from it Affiliate marketing is about helping people. Affiliate marketing is not selling other peoples product. It is about FINDING A PROBLEM then finding the answer to that problem and putting in front of the people who have that problem. I am retired but use affiliate marketing as one of my incomes But before you run walk Pick a niche that you like and a niche that you can grow and build your own products because that is the next step. you can email me I will help you with your problems Robert

Hi Stop your ads that is paid ads. Reason Before you ever use paid ads use free ads methods. Because if free ads do not work for you then no one will purchase with paid ads. I understand that people think that if I pay for a advert people will purchase. This is not true. You need just 3 things to be a affiliate marketer
1 A great product that people want to purchase \
2 You need to put that product in front of people who are interested in that product
3 You need to make sure that the people will purchase from you and not anyone else selling the same product.

Start thinking like a purchaser and not a seller.
        This will help a lot.
        Robert

I would look for some reputable affiliate network. get in touch with the manager.
ask him for tops converting offers they got.
I would do some research on that particular offer. find out where's the target audience
for that offer. and start sending some traffic.

There are many marketing channel to get traffic from.
    Email Marketing.
    Social Media Marketing.
    PPC Advertising.
    Search Engine Marketing.
    Video Marketing.
    Content Marketing.

many other channel. Which Channel you should choose. it depends on the target audience (Demographic, Interest, Gender, Location, income....etc) some channel will work better then the other. Split test and go with what works better.

To answer your post I look for problems that people are having because it is so easy to find people with problems. Then I find the answer to solve that problem and put the answer in front of the people. Or direct them to one of my courses or products to solve the problem This is how I work. We are not re inventing the wheel. Just solving a problem . Re looking for reputable affiliate network On JVZoo you have so many to work for the top sellers in the country one click away what is selling today yesterday and this month. All at your finger tips. Same in Clickbank The answer is not finding products to sell. You have thousands to pick from The answer is finding people to purchase . When you solve that you are making money. I just look at things different then most people. Robert

Keep in mind that there is a big world outside promoting IM / MMO offers, that so many here do.

For the past 16+ years I have been promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. The reason why I mainly focus on them is because there is no credit card / purchase required. All auser has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher than offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have make, get or save money benefit to the, as they have overall worked the best for me, as they tend to have the greatest mass appeal. So the potential to generate high volume exists and they are fairly easy to cross promote, even though the offers are from different verticals.

Some of the verticals that I have done extremely well with are: insurance, loans, educations, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers I promote usually have payouts in the $20-$40 per lead. However,I promote offers that pay more and less. Don't get caught up in what the offer pays, as it is only half the equation. What type of conversion rate different offers tend have is just as import, if not more.

For example, if you have an offer that pays $9 and if it converts at 2X+ of a $20 offer, then they will perform about the same. Where if you have a $90 offer and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth running.

To generate traffic, I have always acquired data (email). This is because I'm then building asset that I own and can market to the user over and over at low cost. Compared to what most markets do which is to pay for traffic, which often just end up producing a bunch of clicks and little to no conversions and the money spent is gone. Or they use some free traffic strategy that more than likely, ends up not being worth the time it took to implement.

I buy fresh / vertical targeted data that I know what the users are interested in and that a PPL offer exist that matches their interest.

I also get fresh / vertical targeted data on a rev-share basis. Which is is data that has $0 upfront cost and you then split the revenue generated from sending it with the data provider.

I generated real-time co-reg data that targets specific PPL offers.

I also buy aged / domain targeted data. Which is a more advanced method, because it requires more resources to do.

As with any type of marketing, it's all about testing. You want to test a small, but adequate size amount of data of any new source and get an idea of the quality and how long it is likely to take to get to break-even. From the results, you can then make a decision on how to move forward. The same is also true for rev-share data, even though you are not paying anything for it upfront. You still want to test an make sure it's should be profitable after the revenue split.

You also have to test offers and find which convert the best. You can have multiple offers that are for the same vertical and one could blow all the others away...have a much higher conversion rate.

Now I will say that any data that you buy is pretty much always going to be less responsive than highly targeted lists that you develop yourself. However, it's really not a big deal, as you can get it cheaper and faster than you ever could building lists.

The key to making it work is to always be segmenting your opens / clickers and removing the unresponsive users. That way over time, you will be able to send less and make more. Essentially you are converting the data from quantity to quality.

In the end, I'm monetizing data using PPL offers, because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions / $$$ and converting the data into cash producing assets.

Obviously there is much more to it, but it really does work. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, mostly do 6-7 figures. While that is a huge range, much comes down to ones ability to scale and effectively manage/build the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Anyway, something to think about.

  • Hi Juliano

I was wondering if maybe you can tell me how you set uo your campaing so that my ads get approved by bing?

    Bing sent me this message:

    • Diego, thanks but I have a long way to go.

As far as Bing, my experience has been terrible with them. I also had issues where my ads were getting disapproved a lot. I contacted them many times. They fixed it for a short period of time but it would get disapproved again after a few days. I'm getting off of Bing for now and looking at other channels.

Let me know if you have any luck with them!

      Kindly,

      -Juliano

It is good to start with a sales funnel or membership site. A funnel consists of a page to send them to, where they can give you an email address and usually you give them a free ecourse, free report, free video, etc... then you can email them and educate them about your products or services and recommend affiliate products that you know will benefit them. You can do a membership site with the videos, reports, etc and then have a section about recommended products...
