Hello,

I am attempting to write an email to send to those who took my leadmagnet but have not purchased my tripwire in an effort to see how to improve my funnel...

What would you think if you got this email? How would you improve it? Is there a better way to ask that should replace this or be added in addition?

I appreciate the awesome feedback this community has.

Here is the email draft. Shred the **** out of it and be brutally honest.

Hello [first name],

First of all, I am very excited that you chose [my website] as your choice to find your next RV.

I noticed you requested the [LeadMagnet]. This is an incredible tool to help get your ducks in a row when shopping for an RV.

I am intrigued why some of you didn't take the next step that is usually taken and wanted to reach out to you.

Would you mind taking a minute out of your valuable day with an answer that will help RV shoppers for years to come?

Was it?
- Too early in my RV shopping journey?
- Too much money(I didnt think it was worth it)?
- That you didnt understand the product?
- That you think you know exactly what you are doing?
- Something else?

I appreciate all answers and read every one of them. Even short answers

Let me know,

-Nate

I do not know what the product you are selling is, I am assuming from the email that it is some type of buyers guide.

I would never ask why someone did not buy product on first email in the funnel, which is what this seems to be.

the questions you ask are pretty bad.

    1. "journey??" no offense but this sounds ridiculous. people that want to by a RV are not on a journey. The only people on a "journey" are internet marketers for some reason.

    2. "didn't understand the product?" while it might not be your intention, by asking this you are basically asking "are you stupid?"

    3. "That you think you know exactly what you are doing?" To me this sends the message to your subscriber that only you know what you are doing regarding this subject.

based on these questions and the whole email in general, I would probably unsubscribe pretty quickly

    • Yes, this would be an email that is at the end of a sequence that is attempting to sell an info product after someone has became a lead.

I would never ask why someone did not buy product on first email in the funnel, which is what this seems to be.
    • This would not be the first email in the funnel, more like the 4th after requesting a leadmagnet. I apologize for not including this in the post.

the questions you ask are pretty bad.
    • Atleast I am seeking help with them

    1. "journey??" no offense but this sounds ridiculous. people that want to by a RV are not on a journey. The only people on a "journey" are internet marketers for some reason.
    • Buying an RV is a a pretty messy process for someone that's why I called it a journey. Also, is the latter comment a stab at me or internet marketers in general?

    2. "didn't understand the product?" while it might not be your intention, by asking this you are basically asking "are you stupid?"
    • The listed answers is more for concept than word for word what I was going to give them

    3. "That you think you know exactly what you are doing?" To me this sends the message to your subscriber that only you know what you are doing regarding this subject.
    • One again just the concept of the answer.

based on these questions and the whole email in general, I would probably unsubscribe pretty quickly
    • Okay so you tore it apart...but you didn't really help...if I took what you said I would end up with less than I started with.

I agree that it seems odd to ask them why they did not buy. If anything maybe a quick survey on how we can improve with similar criteria... This will tell you why without being so direct and possibly offensive to them...

      Good idea mdallen.

Do you possibly have a good example of this on hand that I could get some inspiration from?

Regardless of what you use for the email copy, you need to be running split test on the traffic. What you or anyone else thinks doesn't matter, it's all about how traffic responds.

My best converting email is one sentence and the entire sentence is a hyperlink. That's me, that's what works for me. I know this because I ran dozens of split test over unique traffic for months to narrow down to the bare minimum.
    • Some traffic wants hype.
    • Some traffic wants facts.
    • Some traffic wants you to make decisions for them (testimonials).
    • Some traffic wants minimal copy.
    • Some traffic wants a wall of text.
    • etc...

    Split test.

    As an example
Hey thank you for picking up [lead magnet]
It is out goal here to provide you with excellent customer service.
I was wondering if you could give us some feedback to help us do an even better job of serving you...

Did we try to upsell you too soon?
Were the products offered a price you felt was too expensive?
Would you suggest our products/services to a friend

    Or even more open ended
Can you please tell us about your recent experience with [lead magnet]
What price range would you believe the follow up product should be in?
How would you rate our customer service
What are some ways we could have improved your experience?

    Etc..
