Is Email Marketing Dead?

The whispers are all there saying that list building is dying....

Others say it is already dead.

What are your guys opinions or thoughts on this?

Will it ever die?

If it does then what is the next move for digital marketing?

    Email marketing will never die.
And there are plenty of people still making millions of dollars doing it.
A thread like this comes up in here almost weekly now, and there is no proof to suggest email is going away anytime soon.
Just like any industry, it changes, but there is still tons of money to be made.

Email is ingrained in society and businesses, it is never going to go away. With that said, email marketing will never die. I have been doing it for over 16 years and I have no plans of ever getting out of it.

I think email marketing is great, especially when used alongside other marketing tools like on-site marketing.

We typically see an open rate of around 36% and an average uplift in revenue of 4% upwards through email clicks.

Often marketing emails are too generic, if the email is bespoke and personalised to the individuals behaviour while on the website it's more likely to get a response.

With a number that high, it's no wonder that for years we've heard the resounding cry that email marketing is dead. But, saturation does not mean death. In fact, it couldn't be further from the truth

    Of course it's not dead!

Just like many things, it's a got a bit more difficult than it used to be.

Some of the old methods don't work any more, but if you write good copy and send attractive offers to a targeted list, it's still the most profitable marketing method on the planet.

What most people forget is that it's a means to an end. You have gurus spouting bs about $1 a month per subscriber so people stock pile email addresses and focus purely on quantity.

Ignoring everything that happens after you get an email address is common place because of the dangerous myth of 'just do enough' which translates as 'any old shit is acceptable'.

It's no wonder that these people think email is dead.

On the flip side it is seeing diminishing returns that to Gmail changes and ad blindness but that doesn't mean it can't still be successful.

Email marketing is dead, but that's to those who only think about the money, and ooh, having a massive list of subscribers.

The most effective recipe for email marketing is to provide unrivaled value in order build a list of targeted people you can sell to over and over again.

A list of 200 subscribers with a decent Earnings Per Subscriber(EPS) of let say $300 is far better than a massive garbage-filled list of 200,000 subscribers.

Email marketing is never dead to those who "play the game" right.

I frankly don't understand why people even ask such questions

How can email marketing be dead?

GetResponse and Aweber both use email marketing to generate millions of dollars for business owners.

So email marketing is very much alive.

The thing which is dead is: Spamming the living hell out of the recipient.

If you create a personal email for someone & approach them with the idea of helping them out, you will most likely get a reply.

I have been contacting my previous clients in the last couple of days.

Here are my email marketing stats:

    Emails sent out: 200
    Clients who signed up: 3
Clients who say they are going to sign up: 5
$ amount generated: In the thousands.

    I hope that helps!

Yes, it's as dead as a dodo. Nobody uses it anymore.

The best thing to use nowadays is the mail.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous, fatuous threads of the year. Why did you even waste your time posting it?

Email marketing is not dead. Some of the methods of the old school ways may not work as well. You need to have the most updated approach, but no email marketing is not dead. It likely works better for some things than others, but it can work in any niche and it is the method where you get multiple bites at the apple as long as they stay with you...

How do you do business communication?

How do e-commerce brands get in touch with you?

How do banks send bank statements and transaction alerts to you?

    Email is the answer.

Beyond doubt, Email is not only alive it is the most critical tool in reaching prospects and customers. Over 183 billion emails are sent daily!

This also proves that, in the world of cluttered inbox and reading on the go, you need a 'break through' email strategy.

When it comes to determining the success of emails, most marketers focus on opens, CTRs, and conversions. It's time, though, to shift that focus to your customers-customers that are begging for better emails.

Email is not just a lead generation source, but also an excellent lead nurturing source, if you are doing it right you are in the game of better conversions. It is true that SPAM has grown multi fold in these years but email marketing is far from fading, it is still the first choice for a digital marketer.

If email marketing for you is not working then re-look in below things:

    Is your email mobile optimised?

Is your email stands good on spam score

Is your email targeted to the right customer?

Do you have an updated customer list?

Have you tried and tested enough the time of sending, copy of email, lead magnets and email copies?

    Email is not dead.

    The game has just changed..

do SPAM filters still nail you for images? I have thought one way to be creative is to have an auto loading video in the email, but wondered how spam filters would accept or reject that. Any thoughts?

I agree with everyone else that email marketing will NEVER die.

You just have to get it right... people now a days are on like 20+ email lists and get smashed by emails. Your challenge now is to grab the attention of those people on your list and keep it for as long as you can. An AMAZING first impression and good email copy are the keys to subscribers which are happy to see and open your mails.
