Question about aweber

Hello all,

I've had some success with my squeeze page but a LOT of my subscribers have not confirmed their email. Is it because it goes to their junk folder or they just chose to ignore it after? How can I make sure they see the confirmation email?

Thank you

Ther's not much you can do in AWeber unfortunately. AW won't let you resend the confirmation email, and you don't know whether it's gone into their spam folder, or they just missed it in their busy inbox.

One thing I do, is to periodically export all my unconfirmed subscribers and send them a reminder email from my personal email address, which hopefully has less chance of going into spam or promotional folders.

Another thing you can do is send them to a thank you page after signing up and tell them they will get a conformation email shortly. If they do not receive it then to check their spam folder for the confirmation email.

Yea I already do that telling them that they MUST confirm to get their freebie

I'm with GetResponse and often use single optin, depending on the traffic source. You can also resend the confirmation email with GetResponse, a day or so later.

And, in answer to you question, most confirmation emails seem to wind up in my spam box.

There are two options at this point for you:

    1. Turn off double opt-in, so they instantly get on your list without having to confirm. There are a couple pros and cons for that. I am doing both with a couple of lists. One list, which you will see in my signature is very targeted for people that are already invovled in listbuilding. That's why, if they are truly interested in the topic, they will go all the way to their inbox (or spambox) to confirm that damn email.

    2. Try to get them excited for being on your list, tell them what they can expect and how they are going to benefit for it. If you check out my squeeze and thank you page, I guarantee you, you will be excited to be on my list. You will head straight up to that confirmation email. (If you are interested in the topic of course)

People are used to seeing an offer on the thank you page, that's why they think that you are another person that will simply pollute their inbox with dozens of emails. You need to grab their attention and keep it for as long as you can.

    Hope that helps,
    -Robert

Many marketers no longer use double opt-in.

I switched my lists over to single opt-in about a year ago and my conversion rates more than doubled.

Another thing many marketers are doing is asking for email address only.

Switch to single opt-in and stop asking for their name and your conversions will probably double.

Turn off the confirmation and just do single opt-in.

Your subscribers do NOT have to confirm their email to subscribe. Just go to campaign setting in Aweber and turn off the Confirmed Opt-in. This will sign them up to your list immediately after they enter their email address

I use it all the time.

You can do it to single optin. Greater numbers but less serious people. Just depends on what you are looking for. If someone does double optin they are more likely interested in what you are doing. I would say also most people in marketing groups suggest doing just the single optin and letting the rest sort itself. I also suggest monetizing the confirmation pages. Put a small offer there and you may get some extra bang for your buck. Something like don't forget to confirm your email but while you are here check out this special offer for my list subscribers only... and at the bottom a reminder to check their email to join your VIP club or whatever you call it...
