Block country in Aweber?

Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to block people from a specific country from joining your mailing list with Aweber?

I searched around on Google, and also emailed their support a couple of days ago but haven't really been able to find an answer for this.

Briefly - Where I am, I can generate a huge amount of traffic. Probably a 100k on a whim at any time, which will convert to social signals, likes, shares, etc. but the traffic will never convert to sales, so I'd like to prevent those people from joining my mailing list and having to pay for them and inflate my metrics.

If anyone could tell me whether this is possible or not and if so - how to do it, that would be super appreciated.

Thanks

I am also looking for this same option. I want to build the email list of T1 countries only.

Seriously? I have never waited longer than an hour for an answer to a support question from Aweber. Have you thought about writing them, again? I'm confident that something went awry, somewhere along the line.

    Frank -

I did hear back from them, and the delay was probably just because of the holidays.

Their official answer is that there's not any way to block registration based on country.

Which is too bad, because that would be a really useful feature.

What I'll try and do instead (I'm so busy with other stuff that this isn't a top priority) is look for a wordpress based solution to hide certain widgets and content based upon country.

Like I mentioned - this seems like something a mailing list provider would offer, because you're paying per lead, or per 1,000 or however the sliding scale goes.

It doesn't make much sense to have a bunch of people in your autoresponder from places that absolutely won't convert.

And that's not a slight on any place. Just objective observations.

So, it seems like I either have to give up the massive social shares/signalling I can get locally, or - pay for a lot of useless leads in Aweber for the time being.

I know for a fact that a lot of the big marketers (big, BIG marketers) are boosting their posts to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar to increase the likes/shares but I don't know how they're managing the mailing list issue. Maybe Infusionsoft or some other provider allows you to geo-block or they just don't care.
