Anyone have a big email list in the dog niche or other non MMO niche?

Why not just purchase a list of the exact type of people you are interested in reaching? 'Dog owners' is a readily available list from any reputable list broker.

You can purchase third party data. Which is data that the users have provided permission to receive messages from third parties.

However, data that is most readily available is for popular CPA verticals (see below). Dog niche is not one of them.

You can buy legacy (aged) data and fresh data.

I highly suggest that you don't buy legacy data unless you have your own tools to do basic cleaning and bounce email removal. This is because legacy data (since it is aged) is going to have bad addresses in it, but it is very cheap to buy. Also, since it is aged it is going to be less responsive. So you need to be able to keep your costs as low as possible so that your break-even cost is also as low as possible.

Fresh data is going to be more responsive and you can get a daily data feed where the data is typical only 24 hours old. You still want to have the data cleaned by a reputable list hygiene service, but you don't have to pre-clean it yourself like you do with the aged data.

However, it's not about the data that you are initially acquiring. You want to segment the openers / clickers and remove the unresponsive users. That way over time you are building a smaller, but responsive list and eventually send less and make more each time you mail. Essentially you are converting the data from quantity to quality.

I've been doing the above for over 16 years and it does work. On a large scale, it can be extremely profitable. As it is really more of a business model than a traffic strategy. What I mean by that is, if you're just getting data for a single vertical because that is the niche you promote VS getting data for all verticals and promoting relevant CPA offers. The latter is going to produce far more income and then what you are doing is monetizing data instead of simply sending traffic to a few offers.

The biggest tip I could give anyone thinking about doing this is to stick with verticals that have PPL ( pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All the user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically going to be much higher than offers that require a sale to be made. It is simply going to be far easier to get a user to fill out a short form than take out their credit card and make a purchase.

So you monetize the data the with PPL offers because it offers the path of least resistance to generating conversions and converting the data into cash producing assets.
