What size list would be required to work for yourself?

Hi all i have a list of around 2400 subscribers in a niche to do with gambling. I recently have stopped pushing random click bank products to them which did convert sales and started offering something of value for free.

I am hoping that once i have finished what it is that i am building up to i will see a big jump in sales.

I just wondered what peoples views where on list size in order to make over 1000 a month or leave your day job?

is it niche specific?I am also considering starting a new site in the internet marketing niche and again to build a list here also as there are a lot of high ticket products to sell.

Gambling is a good niche to make money. But it always depends to how you have got these subscribers, where are they located and what kind of products you send to them.

Can you tell your Open and Click rates?
Also, what's the monthly revenue you were doing with Clickbank products?
Last, how many messages did you send weekly?

I would not suggest going to a different niche, even if you have some good experience in internet marketing. Instead, I would suggest you to focus on your existing niche and see how you can increase your revenue from it.

I'm not a fan of niches that require the user to have to make a purchase.

For the last 16+ years, I have been promoting mainly PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers because there in no credit card / purchase required. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher than offers that require a sale.

It's just simply far easier to get someone to fill out a short form than it is to get them to take out their credit card and make a purchase. So why beat your head against the wall trying to convince users to buy this or that, when you can just provide them with free info for something they actually need and get paid well doing it.

2400 subscribers is a good amount to start with. Have you considered opening an amazon affiliated store / shopify with your branding?

Given that you're offering value / free advice, would totally recommend things like branded playing cards, chips etc. Also, who wouldn't want to see another interview with Hon Le? I'd buy Hon Le playing cards for the novelty of it lol

The trick is though, never stop chasing for a larger list. Just make sure it's a healthy list and by that I mean that they've opted into your email list and that they're geniunely interested in your niche (the former is easier to digest than the latter, it's actually quite difficult to determine how much someone is interested without measuring engagement).

+1 to DIABL0. For many, this is a lesson that takes too long to learn. Value selling is extremely powerful. Relying on the classic mentality of sales is always going to get you the results, the overpushing might work for the short term but is bound to burnout your audience at some point.

This is why 16+ years later I'm still in business and killing it...doing the exact same thing as when I started.

Businesses will always need leads. Granted specific offers will come and go, but there will always be good PPL offers to promote. If you really get deep into it, you can create your own offers and sell the leads to end buyers.

Additionally, I have always favored offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them. This is what has overall worked best for me and they tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience). So the potential to produce high volume exists and they are fairly easy to cross promote.

Some of the verticals that I have done extremely well with are: insurance, education, loans, credit, debt, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

I have been preaching this for so many years that I sound like a broken record. But it really does work!

    • Open rates are very good though only around 400 of that list ever open and read the mails.

They are all opted in via email capture form and also confirmation link in email.

I only gain around 7-10. New sub's per week and use get response

Revenues vary one week I made $250 from one email then another $100 when I followed up on the same mail. Via a clickbank product related to the list and why they signed up.

I can't send gambling affiliate links for bookmakers etc with get response I don't think to make more money from the list

As the old saying goes.... It's not the size that counts.

I know people who have less than 500, but they treat those 500 like they are the most important people ever.

Therefore, that person has 500 people who trust them fully.

If those 500 people paid him $100 a year

    that's $50,000.

Most people don't care about their list. Therefore they need a huge number.

If you have 10. Take care of that 10 like they are your own.
