A Question About Autoresponders and Form Builders

You hear a lot about opt-in page builders from several software providers...why can't you use form builders that your autoresponder provides such as those in Get Response? It seems most use separate softwares for this purpose

Optin-in page builders such as OptinMonster usually provide more features than are available through the AR. They allow you to create precisely what you want.

    Good question.

Your form needs to be build into your landing page/squeeze page. Oftentimes you don't get much customization with a lot of the AR forms you can just copy/paste onto your site.

    Consider this landing page:

You would use the custom HTML on that landing page and send the leads to your AR, rather than try to customize the form from your AR.

A classic landing page or squeeze page will contain a form element. There is no reason at all why you can't use your autoresponders form builder to produce this html form code. You simply paste it into your page template. This is a classical HTML web form allowing your page, on form submission, to send the data entered in the form to a script on your autoresponder. This ads your prospect to your list. The form contains hidden fields telling the autoresponder what list to add the prospect to.

Another way to interact with your autoresponder is via a special web app they create and give you a key to connect with your account via this API (application program interface). This is done asynchronously while constructing the landing page.

Some page builders like OptomizePress use this API so you can select the individual list on your account which is displayed for you. You the list you want the input data sent to while constructing your landing page template.

When the page is published and the submit button is pressed, the form data is sent to your autoresponder using a special API call to submit the form data. This just makes the page building easier and convenient to do.

Both 'Web Form' and 'API submission' achieve the same result
