Guys, I need your help here!

I have go just over 17000 active email addresses, they are not in an autoresponder, how best would you work with such a list. I am not exactly sure what they will be interested in purchasing but want to believe the list can be very useful as some of us may agree here.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thing is I am not sure it will be a good idea to load them into my permission based email system for obvious reasons including cost to me of course.

What would be your approach to this.

    you can look for email service providers and request list import. Most likely they will need to verify the list before allowing you to send them emails.

    you also can use a 3rd party cloud smtp service, like MailGun, Amazon SES..etc and host your auto responder software. and link the smtp with your software.

    an other option is to get your own smtp server, you will need to configure it and lotta stuff to cover in between.. to insure good deliverability.

    Option 2 is good.

    You can use some 3rd party email service providers which do not need you to verify a list. However they will scrub the list before uploading.

    If you do Import them to some AR service or self hosted be sure to reengage them in some form or another. Just do not start emailing them like you have been corresponding with them all along on a regular basis. Explain your situation and your mission and what you can offer to them.

    Be sensitive in this regard and you will start building some credibility with them. Which is one of the first important steps in this whole process

    Granted it is 3 years old, but how much better can it be?

    I would be thinking about how to monetize the users and just take a sample of the data and test it.

    You could get a free trial from sendgrid, which you can have 2000 uploaded at any time and send 40K or just use as a smtp.

    With that said. I think you will be wasting your time. I personally would never bother with such a list, as your prospects to monetize it are bleak at best...IMO

      I hear you, but also think one needs to understand the African dynamics, plus things are likely to change in the near future. And you just said it, these statistics are 2014, and much of what these stats say is far from what is happening on the ground.
