How to effectively transition to a new autoresponder while improving email deliverability...

Hello all and thank you for your help,

Long story short, I'm pretty new to marketing, but I'm taking on some new roles as the company I work for goes through a transition.

As I understand it, the company's primary source of leads for the last 2-3 years has been from paid email lists. We have about 20,000 prospects in our database, of which about 75% are from paid lists.

Recently, the autoresponder we were using (Sharpspring) changed it's policy, making it so any email list that contains a certain percentage of its members from a paid list would not be deliverable.

My question is, how do we get through this in the short term?

Long term, I believe the solution would be to turn more toward social media marketing, which my company has been resistant to because of our target demographic, seeing as we are a wealth management firm. That being said, we have recently launched an app that an be used for investing, which obviously changes our target demographic. Also, I think it would be important to transition to an opt-in campaign for the sake of our email deliverability.

Short term, I have explored a few different option. My employer is pretty dead-set on using Clickfunnels for an autoresponder. Personally, I don't think that is our best option. I think he is interested in the other features as well, but it just doesn't have the comprehensiveness we need in an email designer and an autoresponder as a whole. I've looked into Mailchimp, which seems like a good solution, but we run into the same issues with email deliverability. The one thing I do appreciate about click Clickfunnels is that it seems that it will not block emails from a paid list, although it does require using a third-party software for its SMTP integration (which I still don't honestly fully understand). Another option is to send the emails straight from Outlook, but I would be concerned sending an email to our 20,000 people without any sort of tracking of deliverability or engagement would be irresponsible.

Please let me know what your thoughts or suggestions are. I would appreciate it.

Is the data causing problems...excessive bounces, unsubscribes or complaints?

I assume that it's not since you say the data was acquired over the past couple years and I also assume you are regularly mailing it. If it was a problem, then your ESP would have already terminated your account.

So if you're not having any problems, then it doesn't matter who you choose for an ESP. As there will be absolutely no way for an ESP to suspect or know whether the data is paid or opt-in.

As to your existing ESP, I don't understand you saying that the address that was paid data won't be deliverable. How do they plan to do that and do they even know that any of your data is paid?you have to use an smtp service

As to clickfunnels. You have to use a smtp service in order for themail to actually be able to be sent. So you will have to pay for a separate service. So if you use a smtp service (sendgrid, mailgun, etc...) or use mailchimp. Either way, you will be paying for an additional service.

Smtp services charge by the number of emails you can send per month. Where ESP's charge by the number of contacts you store and depending on the service, you may be able to send an unlimited number of messages or some multiple of the number of contacts allowed. So depending on how frequently you typically mail the list, you can calculate how many emails on average you send per month and decide which makes more sense.

There were no problems with the data until recently. In the last month, we have not changed our protocols with sending emails and our soft bounces have gone from under 5% to over 20%.

In regards to the rejected lists, when I spoke with their customer service, they said that they are using a third party to detect whether or not emails were coming from a paid list. What they said was if more than 25% of the list contained emails they suspected came from a paid list, it would not deliver. I don't know any more details than that.

Are you on shared IPs or have a dedicated IP?

Do you have any info regarding soft bounces...error codes?

That's strange, it's not a business plan at all, how they can act on speciousness only. Detecting or having a doubt that the data is from a paid list will lead to the bounce of email.
"I think its the clear sing to change ESP". If you made up your mind for that, let me know so that i can suggest you a few!

Move your data to an SMTP server. Make sure you use the same domains and from email address.

Most SMTP server have wonderful delivery. I use MailGet to connect to my SMTO servers
