Yes, they mean an email list. Unless it's a creepy stalker trying to get phone numbers for his little black book.

Usually you offer something in exchange for their email address such as a free report or a video series.

Before you can build a list you're going to need to pick a topic/niche.

Then you start a blog or website about that niche. When people sign up to your email list you then write to them once a week or every day -- whatever you prefer. In some of the emails you share information -- something of value. In some emails you tell them about new products you've tried -- with your affiliate links. If they click through and purchase you get a commission from the sale.

Building a list of contact information is what people mean. Basically offer something in return for there contact information. In future you can use this info to market to your audience and hopefully Lead to sales.

You want to offer something that will mean something to your target audience. For example I own a marketing business and I offer free marketing to my audience for subscribing to my newsletter. This has worked great so far and my list grows daily.

you want to offer something that is relevant to your industry. For example if your selling Beauty products you may want to offer a trail of your product or a ebook offering advice.

These are just a few examples. First of all before building your list you may want to make a start on your website get some great content before expanding.

Yes, they (normally) mean building an email list.

Although a major failing in IM is that people do not build lists until late in their endeavours and in many cases this is the single reason they do not make any (enough) money. For all sorts of reasons I won't cover here.

However you do need a plan first.

What is your final goal, what are you going to sell/promote, how are you going to drive traffic. Stick to a narrow niche so that your email list is targeted to what you plan to sell.

You need a sales funnel. That is an opt-in page that offers a free gift in exchange for an email address. Once you have the email you must follow up consistently with more emails where at least some are promotional. I,e. Selling something,.

No list is any good unless you use it to sell something, lots of things (second reason for not making enough money).

Get your first sales funnel working before doing anything else. Lack of focus and jumping from on thing to another is the third reason for not making enough money.

Pick an area that's interesting to you. Because that way you'll grow personally as you build your business. You are your biggest asset, so your personal growth is as important as building your list or any other aspect of being in business online or offline.

Email List...if you drive traffic to an offer, the majority are of the visitors are just going to leave and not convert. So instead of sending the user to an offer, send them to a page where you offer them a free gift in exchange for their email address. This is commonly referred to as a squeeze page.

The gift should ideally be related in some way to the offer. That way you are collecting emails of users that will hopefully be interested in the offer. Which you can then send them follow-up emails, which you would never have been able to do if you just sent the traffic to the offer.

What area of affiliate marketing are you looking to get into?

the reason I ask is there is a big world outside of MMO and selling products and services.

I've been promoting CPA / affiliate offers via email for over 16 years, but focus on generating leads rather than sales.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

Bottom line: it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

Online lead generation is a multi-billion dollar industry. Done right it can be far more profitable than many imagine. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

Something to think about.

Pick a niche that you are familiar with and then build a list around that way. Research on google the best type of niches to target when building a list if you are not currently familiar with any niches.

Of course its email list man .But dont expect that if you just build a list money will fall from sky .You must build a good relationship with that list .The think with email list its that you have traffic at a push of a button .For example to get free traffic you must work hard for it or you can buy it but it cost money .But with email list you just write some sentences and boom

And I'm just gonna chime in and say..."The Money is NOT in the list!"

The Money is in the VALUE that you provide to the list! Because the value that you provide to that list creates that relationship with the list. It creates the TRUST that they have in you. It creates that GOOD WILL and it causes them to TRUST YOU and to LIKE YOU and to WANT to BUY from YOU.

Here are some basic steps for you to take to get started RIGHT NOW TODAY.

STEP 1:

Find a hosting service for your domain, I recommend Hostgator or Godaddy, but there are more out there just research a bit. Just make sure you will find a reliable hosting company that will have great support and great uptime for your site.

STEP 2:

Find a niche (preferably a profitable one already making money) that you find interesting and that you know a lot about and start blogging about it.

Make sure you sign up to the Google Adsense Program, so you can add in some ads on and throughout your blog post. This won't make you rich, but it could provide you with some decent income over time if you expand to many sites later and get good rankings.

STEP 3:

Make sure you have an autoresponder in place so you can follow up with your prospects that you will be getting to sign up for your free lead magnets on that particular niche topic. You will have a sign-up form ON PAGE or in the form of a POP-UP when readers come to your blog page.

As readers sign up to your list (I'm building a list! Yee Haaa!) you can send out promos of affiliate products to that list. Just make sure that you are sending out at least 1 email a week giving them some valuable content that will help them in their business via; free ebook, video, etc.

This will keep your subscribers interested in staying on your list. If you just send promo offers all the time they will start unsubscribing soon thereafter.

It's important that you stay and authority figure in their eyes so they want to hear from you often with tips & tricks that can help them proceed further in their business and not just throw offers at them.

There is a bit more to marketing than what I just explained, but hopefully, it will give you the gist of things to get you started at least.

There are so many things to learn that the gurus don't tell you at first, but the most important thing is to invest in your own education so that you become the guru.

Well it is simple. You basically need a autoresponder and a squeeze page. I use GetResponse which takes care of both... Then I have great source of traffic IE leads..

The tricks is how to use you autoresponder to segment you list so you only promote people that are truly interested.

What niche are you venturing into?

List refers to an email list.

You will need a tool known as an autoresponder.

You will be able to generate a form with your autoresponder to collect leads.

This form should be embedded on your website.

You need to entice your prospects to sign up for your list.

After that, you follow up with them via email marketing to build relationship and close sales.

If you are in the make money online (MMO) niche, there are so many "Done-For-You" funnels out there. It is the fastest way to get started in my opinion. This solution should include

1. Your own lead capture page
2. A thank you page or redirected to a sales offer
3. Follow up emails.

There are many new people giving up because there is just too many things to learn how to do so going with the above option will be good. You will have your own funnel set up within hours / days.

However, you will still need to learn the basics so that you can tweak your funnel, write better emails etc.

Once you have the funnel out there, just focus on promoting that one page (the lead capture page / landing page) where people can sign up to your list.

After that, it will be writing a daily email or you can upload a lot of content to your autoresponder to send out the emails for you. I prefer the first option.

1. Look for done for you funnels
2. Get it set up as soon as possible
3. Start getting traffic

The key here is to get it set up fast and be focus.

one thing is for sure do not use pop up opt ins...imo, as a reader they're annoying af...you're reading the article then boom pop up distraction...worse is that it adds to the page load times....I dunno if it actually works with others tho...

Yes ! It is email list. And better to start with it than not.

But what I hear is completely different. You have an empty canvas. Want to dip your toes into affiliate marketing.

Well it is not rocket science. My definition of Affiliate Marketer is a person who is an online salesman.

The real salesman went door to door to sell his products. So he had to bear with doors banging on his face.

Sometime this salesman was also some one behind the counter in a shop. So people actually came to him when they wanted something he had. In this case there were no banging doors. But people could come, ask about a product and leave without buying.

Now coming back to our affiliate marketer or the online salesman. He does not have to go door to door. He does not have to stand behind a counter. And most of all he does not see the people who don't want to buy from him.

He builds his asset like a website, youtube channel or facebook page. Weaves his magic with words, images and videos across all his assets. And then when some visits his content and gets enchanted or enticed he offers them a free gift just for being there. In exchange for an email.

Thus he build his email. Knowing well that this was some one what was partly interested in some content he put out in the world. Now he weaves his magic with his email autoresponder.

And within some emails is a hidden sales link. Which when clicked takes a totally unknown person towards a promised land. If this unknown person likes the promise he removes his wallet. Punches in the credit card details or paypal email and parts with cash for the promised land.

A sale is made. That is the income of this online salesman. The salesman lives by the income.

Now if the salesman is able to generate a good traffic to his offerings through his various assets then he becomes an internet millionaire.

If he just keep trying and erroring then he remains a wantrepreuneur.
