Is MailChimp good enough to start an e-mail list?

I was just wondering if MailChimp was good enough to use to start an e-mail list to promote clickbank products. I like the fact that it is free but I am not sure on it's quality. Thanks.

    I think the fee version is good enough to make a list. Though you will not get the autoresponder functionality but you can have sign up forms and you can send limited email campaigns to your lists.

    Wrong, there tos does not allow affiliate promotions to click bank. Please do a search here on the forum or read there tos. There are a lot of threads here that go through mail chimp. It's not to much geared to the Internet marketer per say

      I would say Getresponse is a great way to go if you need a free way to start. Plus they are affiliate/internet marketing friendly.

        Do not use MailChimp for ClickBank products, affiliate products, etc. There are a zillion posts about this.

          No way. Instead of MailChimp, use GetRespond for newbie friendly interface auto responder. They offer some mail list space for free to make sure you really are going to build a list. Their customer service is also satisfying, you can ask many newbie question in their customer support and they will give you clear and easy to understand answer.

    I don't use MailChimp..
    The Free version is not fully-functionable.

    On choosing an Autoresponder, you need
    to consider it as a long term investment.
    It is very troublesome to transfer your email
    contacts to another autoresponder at a later stage.
    Do plan ahead.

    I personally use aweber and getresponse.
    The reason for using two instead of one is

    Getresponse is more user-friendly but tend to
    get into spam mail easily.

    As for Aweber, it is all good except there are
    cases of accounts being suspended recently.

    Do some research on this.
    This is the most important factor for list building.

    Aweber is the most recommended email responder and newsletters letter. I don't know about mail chimp anyway since it is free I don't know it is that good.

      I would agree, unfortunately it's now a tad expensive to join if you're just starting out. The best bet is to find a private label version if they are still out there, It's what I did though they have now been taken back over by Aweber. They may still have the old pricing structure which is a lot cheaper

      You get a free trial with Get response and I've heard some good stuff about them

    I would not use mailchimp. It is not designed to manage relationship as you would through aweber etc. Mailchimp is good for certain things such as one off mass mailing etc. Not good for list building.

    Im confused as where this information comes from. MailChimp is a GREAT service. When it comes to its functionality. (I have used it) . It just isn't allowed to do what most people on here do. They are geared and branded to a certain type of person/company, and are strict in keeping it that way .

    They don't allow affiliate promotions in there, they might ban your account. You only have to search the forum to find many people complaining about mailchimp banning their account for doing affiliate marketing with their service. So, I suggest you don't go for them.

    Getresponse gives first month free of charge and you'll only have to pay $1 with Aweber for the first month.

    So, you can choose either of them. If you have a good list building and follow-up system in place, you can start earning the first month itself and you can pay for the service from the second month. Hope that helped.

    I tried Mail Chimp a while back and the functionality of the free version was limited; you can't set it up as an autoresponder for example. They also hate affiliate marketing and Clickbank in particular.

    MailChimp may not allow affiliate marketing. But if you are looking for a free service, you can check out Listwire.com. A fully functional autoresponder that allows affiliate marketing and provides the same service that a paid one offers, all for free!...

    Its quality isn't the only point, Joey: its (lack of) safety is what matters.

    I would never use MailChimp (and not just because it's a stupid name) :-) lol

    The biggest single mistake I made when getting serious about online marketing was trying
    to cut corners and save money on an auto-responder. No question, I ended up costing
    myself THOUSANDS....I actually hate to think how much.

    Go to Starbucks a few less times a week or do whatever to be able to afford a quality
    auto-responder service. I use GetResponse now and the difference has been night and day.

    If you know any career tradesmen, you know they spend whatever it takes for quality tools.
    It's more important to them than anything. For us, as online(and offline) marketers, email services
    are the most important tools we have, imo.

    Heck i didn't know that you couldn't sell things with them ?

    That's odd ? even if you become a paying customer ? Man that's strange.
    I'm pretty sure that if you pay for it, everything will be alright. If it's the free version well maybe they ain't too happy with aff marketing ?

      Nobody quite said that.

      Just that you can't sell things with them (or even elsewhere, while also using them) as an affiliate. You also can't sell things - even as a vendor - that fall into a fairly wide variety of classifications which include a lot of internet-marketing-related areas, too.

      It has nothing to do with whether it's the free version or the paid version. The terms of use are the same in either case, and interpreted in the same ways, too.     With respect to everyone, it isn't as simple as them banning "all affiliate links". It's much more complicated than that - Does MailChimp Ban Affiliate Links? | MailChimp.com

    They do ban a range of things, including
    Work from home, make money on online, and lead generation opportunities

      But with respect to yourself, Carol, they've been saying that (what you linked to in your first link) for years, while at the same time closing people's accounts for exactly what they say they sometimes allow.

      They give inconsistent information, and this is part of the problem.

      What you link to there, on their website, simply doesn't reconcile with what they've said to so many people

      It seems to me (and apparently to countless others here) that either the left hand doesn't know what the right hand's doing, or they're really trying to fool people. Either way, would you entrust them with the safe-keeping of your business's most important/valuable asset, when so many Warriors have lost their accounts there?

      the OP could be a newbie, and only just starting out in building an email list. The most important asset to any online company.

      If that was the case, and OP had limited money and resources, there is nothing wrong with MAILCHIMP at all.

        Agree but how are you going to get your signature shown if you don't mention something different , and if he does not have the funds Listwire just as good and free used it for 2 yrs never a problem

    Mailchimp is a great option to start email list. I am using it from past few years and never had any problem with it. The pricing is also affordable compare to other email marketing services.

    Mail Chimp is a good mail server, for any type of program your in. But, if your using this service. For an affiliate type of promotion. Becareful, because they can shut your service down. Because of their compliance issues, with this type of marketing.

    If you promote affiliate products using Mailchimp you will have your account banned as sated in their TOS .

    Plus there are other free alternatives(Aweber for the full month) then why only mailchimp

    I have nothing against mailchimp besides the fact that you cannot promote affiliate products .

    Small lists - mail chip

    bigger list - definitely aweber.

    I would go for Getresponse. Its a much easier tool, and in my opinion more reliable than Mail Chimp.

    Yes. If you are just starting, I believe Mailchimp is good. It's free for up to 2,000 subscribers, but after that, the pricing may be a bit high. You can take a look at ActiveTrail as well. It's a fairly new software, but it has everything you may need. There's a free 1 month trial.

    You can actually weigh your options and find the software that you are comfortable using. There are a lot of options out there. Just do your research and find out which one suits you best. If you don't think that your subscriber list will go beyond 2,000. I suggest to go with Mailchimp. But if you plan to grow your list, then find a platform that has minimal fees.

    Regular Campaign.
    Scheduled Campaign.
    Follow Campaign.
    Autoresponder campaigns.

    Also check some other stuff like reporting, segmentation,,etc
