Email Autoresponder Outsourcing Anyone?

I have a number of autoresponders that need to be setup, but just thinking about starting them makes me cringe. I've always outsourced my articles, for my blogs, to other freelancers. How many people here actually delegate their autoresponders to freelancers as well?

See, I'm a bit more picky about the autoresponder sequence and the content provided within it. I'm wondering if this is one of those jobs that I just have to "bite the bullet" with, or if there is a template that some people use to hand over to their freelancers in order to get this done properly.

I would just do it yourself one time and you are set

Not giving any opinions here, but I just want to say that to establish a successful relationship with your list you have to be yourself. Share your stories, thoughts, etc.

As you yourself said, you are picky with the AR (probably for the very reason I mentioned - you don't want to jeopardize your relationship with your list).

Having said that, you can either draft them yourself, and hand them off to a freelancer/outsourcer to polish up, or outsource them, and then polish up by injecting your own "self" into them.

Again, I have no opinions on this (actually I do, I am pro doing them yourself, but that may not be ideal for your particular personality); I am just throwing out an idea.

Thank you Riki for your detailed response! You covered exactly what I was worried about and actually hit a great point. I could outsource some of the autoresponder series and inject myself in it.

Some of these lists are for niches that I am not particularly fond of(they produce $ though), but I could definitely see myself writing all my autoresponders for niches I am passionate about and/or internet marketing.

SIDE QUESTION- How short/long should I keep each message? I was thinking around 200-250 words or so.

That would be a hard question to answer. There are so many variable. I receive emails that are a hundred words or less and some that are in the 4-500 word realm. I tend to prefer short and to the point (to a point), but have been known to read the longer ones as well.

It depends on who is sending, what their model is, and what my relationship with the seller is.

I would guess the particular niche would make a difference as well.

if it's something you feel you have to 'bite
the bullet on', then you're likely not to have
    much success doing it yourself.

Although I'd recommend doing it yourself...

...because nothing works better than being
    yourself and expressing your personality...

...you can 'get away', at least temporarily,
with an email copywriter who doesn't have
    any hangups about it.

Usually, the people most uncomfortable with
writing emails are those uncomfortable with
    their own voice.

I've heard a mirard of excuses from lack of
    time...

    ...busy doing other things.

    ...not much of a writer.

    Blah, blah, blah.

I know because people paid me a lot of cash
to write their emails for them.

I would even recommend sometimes they
write it themselves, but would hear none
    of it.

    Personally...

...I enjoy connecting with people through
    email.

It's fun. And profitable when done right.

It is the one area that I really enjoy and so important to use your own voice. Building that relationship is all important in my view, and although of course someone else could do that for you it would not be the same.

I suppose I am thinking of the type list I build. Many churn and burn guys probably don't care too much about each individual subscriber and they could easily outsource the task.

Some great sound advice here. Thank you all!

So far, I think I'll end up writing about the niches that I am more passionate about, as my passion will be more accurately portrayed across my emails. For those niches that I feel like I have to "bite the bullet" for, I will more or less hire someone to write these for me and do my best to inject a bit of my personality in there as well.

Life's just too short to do things you don't enjoy doing and I'm sure the tasks will most notably never get done unless I get a little help from other writers who are more passionate about the subjects I am not.

I think outsourcing or using a template is a good idea while you learn to speak to your audience. Especially if you usually outsource your content, like you've stated that you do.

In everything it's important to add your own voice, whether it's the auto responder or the blog.

Either way, definitely check out the copywriting forum and pick up some of the books that are recommended there if you haven't done so already

    Hi,

Too many people think that they should build one kind of list.

Doesn't everyone have a "DARK-SIDE" LIST that needs to be
tested like crazy just to see how well it converts?

    Don't assume guys - TEST!

Allow your results to speak for themselves.

But yeah I do agree with the lady that said it's far better to add your own
    personality into your messages.

That's gotta be the best way for people to get to know you right.

    All the best fellow warriors

I voted yes. I am surprised at the results. 6 people said no and 2+1(me) said yes.

It is the most important part. You get them in and you want to keep them and copywriting in as succinct a manner is important.

So even if it costs, outsource it. If subscribers notice no value in your emails they will opt out or just not open emails.

Make them excited to open your mails. Provide value!

Here here! Smart marketers either learn Copywriting themselves, or outsource it to a Copywriter, it's that simple. It's a pain, or it's expensive, but at least it gets results!

    A lot.

But many of them don't like admitting it in public and won't post to say so.

You won't learn much from the poll, in other words, because all your respondents are self-selected. I'm not criticising you for asking, but the way you're asking is rooted in "selection-bias", and can therefore have no valid conclusions, I'm afraid.

Many of them also outsource these from "general writers"/"article writers", not appreciating that they involve a completely different skill-set and writing approach. It's the same story as with most IM-related outsourcing: there are very few objective quality controls, and most marketers would rather try to do it on their own (very often by inadvertently "copying what doesn't work") or outsource cheaply (very often with the same outcome) than pay a specialist's prices.

So you should be. It's often the most outcome-determining aspect of the whole sales process.

Besides... better to position yourself so you can watch what they do, instead of listening to what they say.

I outsource most of my reports if its in a non im niche. My emails though are all written by me.

It is not as uncommon as you perceive, many blog owners delegate this task to freelancers because it is very time consuming.
