Using Emails to Build Strong Relationship with your list of subscribers - Say No to Hardsell

Hey everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone in advance, for I feel honored to be on this platform with fellow Warriors. I'm excited that we can all learn from each other and make big money together via email marketing.

Having attended a course on Email Marketing and List-Building, I discovered that one of the most important elements of email marketing is about creating your own "cult" following of subscribers who are highly responsive and of good quality.

Now, there is a very human aspect to email marketing that is often neglected amidst all the prevalent hard-selling tactics, that is - Relationship Building (soft-selling). One of the biggest mistakes in email marketing, is to 'squeeze' your subscribers dry with email after email, to buy every single product that you're promoting, until they hit the "unsubscribe" button. Yes, Relationship Marketing is not just applicable to blogs, but also in the emails that you send.

The single most important key to successful email marketing, is really to treat your subscribers genuinely as your friends, and not your cash jackpot. People don't like to be sold, they want to feel like they are buying. If we genuinely think in terms of their interests, we can naturally arouse an eager want by sharing some personal content in our emails. In this way, your subscribers won't feel like you're hard-selling. Playing the role of a Giver and giving away good content skillfully mixed with sharing of some personal content will earn the trust and loyalty of subscribers for a long time.

In addition, one needs to "exercise" the list of subscribers regular to maintain their responsiveness. One way is to create polls/surveys and solicit responses from the subscribers. By doing so, subscribers are more likely to respond and click on the subsequent links sent to them.

To sum it up, my humbly small tip would be: Create your own 'cult' following of subscribers by building strong and genuine relationships via good content & personal emails.

Hope this thread would be a good sharing platform of best practices and novel ideas to build good relationships with your subscribers.

While I do agree on the soft-sell there's definitely a place for the hard-sell.

But the soft-sell is it's enabler.

      Here's what I mean...

The soft-sell aims to build up a relationship and trust... whilst selling product along the way right?

Now that you have this relationship... why not hard-sell them on a product that will REALLY help them.

Hell... they're on your list to benefit THEM, and if you've been doing it right this straight-up pitch will be like crack to them.

P.S. I'm not saying that you should hard-sell constantly... you shouldn't... you'll burn through the list. But there is a time for a hard-sell which produces a win-win (they get a great beneficial product, and your pockets feel a bit heavier )
