Staying Relevant To Your Lists

One of the keys to success is to present relevant, updated information to your lists; blog posts, youtube videos, articles, webinars, dvds/cds/mp3s.

Any insights on what you do specifically to be worthwhile, relevant to today's markets?

I was reading about the problems brick and mortar stores like Radio Shack, JC Penney and Sears are having, staying relevant in today's world, despite being trusted brands many of us grew up with...a sobering thought, about "how could they be struggling, they're an icon?". I still miss Thrifty's, Blockbuster, Border's (I still can't believe Borders Books went out of biz), CD stores/music stores in malls.

Relevance - how do you maintain it? valuable forum thread topic, I'd think... (now watch nobody answer, lol because they're worrying about wsos, sigh)

    Hey Ken

The best way that I stay relevant with my subscribers is that i just stay learning new info within my niche and as much as i can to keep providing value consistently. It all starts with my keyword research and i just branch off of many different sub niches under the make money online niche.

    Hope this helps out!

Hard to say really, depends on your list, how they got on their list, what they are expecting to get from you.

Could be so many things, some you've already mentioned, videos, blog posts, tips/tricks, how-to, industry news, products that will help them do ____ ect. ect.

Thing is stay focused on what your list is expecting to get. Don't want to send dog tricks to cat owners. Course you know that, just saying to keep it related.

Be a real person. When you have something important to share, share it. When you don't have something important to share, don't share it. Also don't be afraid to mix some of your personal life into your marketing. People like to know there is a real person behind the brand.

I strongly agree with this statement. Be real, be truthful. People like that when we are being frank with their list/audience.

Good points; thanks. It also reminds me when I watch tv shows on Netflix/Amazon Prime, most only last 3-7 seasons before they were cancelled... even pretty good shows. So today, I look at business like running your own tv show, and you don't want to be 'cancelled' by low sales/ratings... so staying relevant is key.

    Agree with Will.

Be real. Inject personality. Tell them what's going on in your life even if it is something trivial. It helps your subscribers get to know you.

If you've got something good to share then get it out.

Stay in touch regularly and always deliver value.

Try not to mail for the sake of mailing.

'Be real' and as Josh said 'stay learning new info' are key.

However, I think it's a triangle (not a square, not an octagon, not a circle)...

    The third piece is consistency.

Create content on a schedule that works for you so that your audience can position you in their minds as "every monday, I'll be looking out for a new email from X about X..."

And because you are injecting personality and always on the cutting edge you will provide them immense value and they will provide you with resources.

    And possibly donuts as well.
