How do I build a list?

Hello Warriors,

I'm new to this site and already learned a lot from Veteran Warriors. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Why I'm asking you:
He is also interested in cross-selling but I obviously don't have a list now. Could the Senior Members please tell me on how I build a big email list with raving fans?

Could you please give me an advice or provide me with links? I'm sure this had been discussed on several occasions.
This is important to me because I read that list building is like an asset whereas a product can saturate quickly.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

    Camron,

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum.

As you stated, there are already many threads here in the WF with a lot of nuggets about list building. I would suggest you make use of the search function and pick and choose from the relevant posts that are already here. You will get a much faster and more comprehensive answer about how to build a list than if you merely post your thread here. It is a very important part of Internet marketing (many will argue it's the very most important thing you can do).

Hint: specific questions as you work through list building are usually better than general ones, even when asking for links to resources.

The paid sections of the WF (including the War Room) contain many list building products and services you can buy. If you go that route, pick and choose carefully as there is a very broad range of quality in what you can spend your money on.

    The very best to you,

    Steve

I can offer you six threads which - between them - cover all the basics of listbuilding, if that helps.

What are the essential things to know about list building?

Lists: How Long to Presell - Averages

    Website or squeeze page

Where to get reports to give away on opt in page?

    Autoresponders vs. Broadcasts

Sick of Emails Not Being Opened?

By the way, threads about "lists" go here: Email Marketing

These are the things you need to do

    1. Get your own Web hosting (Not Free) - this is where you're going to post all your files.

    2. Get your own Domain - The name can be your own name/pen name which I highly recommend but you can also use any name branding you want.

    3. Get your blog up and running - This is where you're going to put all your guides, post and other promotion. Squeeze Page and the Free Report at the Download Page

    4. Create a Social Media profiles such as Facebook, Fan Page and Tiwtter - This is for additional exposure to your services, promotion.

    5. Drive Traffic to it- If you have a budget, learn how to drive traffic through facebook ppc, or go forum posting and or SEO.

I know the steps I've mentiond above is basic because it is a proven system. You may think it is out dated but it still works you just need to tweak things up. Don't listen to other people that Email Marketing is Dead, it doesn't mean that it did not work for them it will not work for everyone.

If you have specific questions, feel free to drop a question here.

      This.

Very important point to appreciate, there.

Internet marketing forums (including this one) are full of opinions that "Such-and-such a type of marketing is dead". Very often, what those sentiments are telling you is "I did such-and-such a type of marketing badly/incorrectly/unprofessionally/misguidedly and didn't make money from it, and I'm now attributing the blame to the techique/method itself rather than to my own lack of skills". Different things work for different people because different people do things in different ways.

===> This question has to do with a blog, opt-in and at the same time not scare away affiliates.

For my sales page is it possible to include a "blog icon" in the top menu navigation? There I could upload all my knowledge where affiliates can learn from or use articles from there and rewrite, provide free giveaways and where prospects can download them in exchange for their emailaddress and build my list?
The only thing is that an optin is an optin^^

Or is only an optin directly on the salespage a big red flag?

That's certainly an enormous and fatal red flag, as far as serious, pro-affiliates (the ones you want) are concerned. But it doesn't have to be directly on the sales page to be the same enormous and fatal red flag. It's still a leak if it's on any page accessible by a customer before he pays and the affiliate commission is therefore earned. You see the logic, I'm sure?

This thread explains why, in detail and with examples (it's long-ish, but well worth reading all the way through, because every "twist and turn" of this subject is covered there!): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...oduct-opt.html

Key concept (simplified): 5% of affiliates make 95%+ of sales, and those are the affiliates who won't touch a sales page/site with a "vendor's opt-in" accessible through it before the customer pays.

Not if you want me to promote it. That's a "leak".

Do that for yourself, maybe, but give your affiliates a different page/site that doesn't give them that problem, because the affiliates you can lose, that way, are typically exactly the ones who sell most, and there are reasons for that. Bear in mind that "having as many affiliates as possible" and "making as many sales as possible" are usually two very different things!

Thanks. My next questions (hope you don't mind) is:
    1) How do I know if a designer or copywriter is good?
    2) How important are non disclosure forms and do you use them?

Looking at their portfolio, your own judgement, your own experience, and their provision of independently verifiable references/testimonials which you can check out yourself by talking with the people who provided them (never be embarrassed to ask for these details; you won't be the first person to do so: it's a totally reasonable thing to ask, and if you get an "elusive" reply, draw your own conclusions!).

I can't help you with this one: nowadays, I "outsource" only to my own full-time employees (and that's not really outsourcing at all. I did insist on an "equivalent" with each of them, when I employed them, though how well these things stand up, between different countries, is another matter).

there was recently a splurge of WSO's that came out on list building I found to be really good. Have a dive in there.

Also, I wouldn't necessarily use solo ads for a large list. That's mainly for getting buyers to your list. If you tried to explode your list with that you would out of a lot of money. Aim for some free methods like swapping, clickbanking, anything to multiply a list if you're going that solo ad route. You'll get a bigger return on the investment!

    Good morning warriors...
I do everything to avoid an opt-in on my sales page.
But if I have a web form on my sales page --> affiliates (at bottom) .... that only will be for affiliate updates...will that be fine? I mean in this early stage I'll surely have to test and tweak and update affiliates about better promo materials...

It just takes a sec clicking my signature

Edit: Please tell me if this is ok since I dont want to dispense affiliates

Honestly you should try to afford Aweber or Getresponse because when it comes to Autoresponders which is your most powerful asset... Would you really like to compromise on that?

Think about deliverability for instance. Those to are definitely the best ones on that. And of course, you don't want your emails to end up in the spam folder. That wouldn't make you any money.

Besides your Autoresponder should be covered by the money you make pretty fast
