In list building experts says to create a free gift. What exactly does that mean? how do I get one?

(sorry to come up with silly question, I am still learning)

So basically people say to create a free gift so that people will opt in to your email list. You can either create your own ebook, or you can buy a PLR (making your own is better). But if you have no experience, I would recommend asking some experienced IM's if you could interview them.
Or you can do a mindmap or videos.

Hope this helps PM me if you have any questions

You can buy a plr and give that away. The best thing to do is probably make a little PDF that helps a need that way people on your list will stay and buy more of the products that you promote because they trust you.

You can ... but it's hugely inadvisable.

Not so fast. I am not against buying a PLR product having done so myself several times. But and this is a big but, you need to massage the report by rewriting it and making it match your style of talking and writing. I use PLR as an outline for a total rewrite. Sure, I could do the whole thing from scratch, but using this outline approach speeds things up for me because I work full time outside of I.M.

If you give something away for free, it has to have 2 qualities:
-> Teaching your leads something = Sovling a problem
-> Preselling an offer that you are promoting.

If you can create reports that are combining these two factors in a subtle way, you won't only make more sales, but you'll also gain instant authority which will allow you to make more sales in the future.

By the Way, what do you think? Maybe a self-produced video about a special "Problem" is the better gift!? When i see other opt-in pages at the moment i think there is a Trend to Video -squeeze pages...

Maybe you can just start with something that interests your or what you are passionate about and go from there? Usually it's the things that interest us and what we participate in are where we focus our knowledge and learning.

...so just use that to your advantage and build upon that to create an informational product that genuinely might help others that share the same interest.

I also ran across this thread http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...st-niches.html so maybe you can use that to find something that might interest you, start doing your reasearch (google is free you know) and create something.

I never liked the idea of a free gift because in a way you are attracting people who are only interested in free stuff. Now this may not be true at all times but most of the times it is so be careful with this technique.

Many people send free downloads as free gifts to their list for building more trust with their list and possibly steps towards better conversions

Though most internet marketers use this technique, the thing that really works is constantly providing the best information daily/weekly to your subscriber list as the more useful you are in solving your subscriber's problems and helping them out with situation, the more they will trust you. That will never happen over one tiny free report.

      Nope.

If they were also good potential customers for paid stuff, then giving them a little free report for opting in won't make them any less good potential customers for paid stuff. They're still the same people, and they're all still there.

If you give a freebie, you may also get a few additional people who are only interested in free stuff, it's true, but your email marketing skills may even convert some of those, too. And if they don't, what did it cost you? There's no downside.

One thing's for sure: you don't lose a single person by making the incentive a free one.

There are many ways to get a free report:

First do a research and find out exactly what people want; then you can...

    1. Write out a small report answering all the questions

    2. pay someone to write it for you

    3. buy PLR answering the questions (edit and use)

    4. Ask top sellers on clickbank to give you optin bribes (some have free offers for affiliates)

Don't forget your free gift does not have to be an ebook..it can audio, video , images or software.

Fully agree with Samuel Adams, it s better to cut the PLR in small pieces and send them over a few days.

It doesn't need to be a free gift.

I've seen Squeeze Pages that ask your email just to "Learn More" about a Paid Product that solves some problem (with an auto-responder sequence selling the software from a different angle every x days - until i've purchased it).

Frankly, some of them looked ok and the benefit of this is that people are trained to pay from day one.

    Just my 2 cents.
