    You should probably have two different lists. The first will be current team members, most likely those in your downline. The second list will be prospects. The prospect list acts as a lead generation system. The best way to get people into that list is to offer some sort of free info product. Examples include ebook, article or white paper. It is very wise to follow the suggestions of the other answers in segmenting your list. That means to collect various variables of information like country, zip code or product related interests. That will make it easier to send out related email to specific segments of the list.

    I like pay per click advertising when it comes to building a list. It gets you really fast results and is a lot better then free marketing which can be slow and sometimes frustrating.

    If you are just starting out, and your are in the Internet marketing niche, the best way to generate leads
    is through solo ads. This is by far the best option you have.

    Solo ads provide quality leads, highly targeted and very responsive.

    Once you have few hundred leads (200 - 500 subs), you can stop buying solo ads, and go for ad swaps (google it if you don't know what that is). But, one word of caution, limit your ad swaps to 2 per week, otherwise, you will burn your list.

    And if possible, try to keep those paid leads coming. That's pretty much it.

    I am amazed at how many people are trying to find the next big thing. But honestly this is how the big Dogs in this industry are generating there millions.
