Does using Images in Follow-Up Email Increase/Decrease open rate?

Any idea?

Is it a good idea to include images in email follow up?

    Of course it will.

Those who have 'display images' turned off will turn it on in order to see what's there - particularly if you make it compelling in some way.

This allows your autoresponder to utilize it's hidden pixel to track open rates.

So your open rates will be somewhat more accurate.

P.S. - Note, I say that your open rates will be more accurate, not that your open rates will be better...there's only two reasons that people OPEN your emails... trust in you as a writer, and the title of the email.

Decrease. It significantly decreases delivery-rate to in-boxes, overall, so it can only really decrease open-rates. (It also causes some people problems, and can even produce unsubscriptions, if they're not expecting it.)

Try it and see. But if it increases your open-rates, I think you'll perhaps be the first person here who's ever found that.

You include images based on their value to the reader. The trick is to send both plain text and html mail, something spammers rarely do.

Amazon seems to have no problem sending images and getting me to open them, Same with Hooters.

In both cases, the images are totally in line with the objective of the email. Images in their emails are also in line with the expectations they set from the beginning.

well base on the comment, seem that EXCLUDING images is a better choice!

    Thanks for the feedback!

It depends of your market audience.
If your audience is in the IM field, there is no need for the images. But if you are selling products like Amazon or hooters restaurant, images can play a big role for your email-marketing campaign.

for your Thread Title, i think you want to say Click to rate links not open rate. since the Subject line is the only item responsible for the open rate of the emails and not the body of the email.

What's the image? Is it doing something important? I like to keep my emails nice and minimal (with a focus on content). Never tried inserting an image thb. Maybe I'll try

From my experience, I did it one time, and I really don't want to do it again, the problem is not in open-rates, but I got a huge number of unsubscriptions, of course I'm in the IM niche.

But I think if you have an e-store or you are selling physical product, it's important to use images, but be smart, send 2 version of emails, a plain text, and the other one with images.
